HELP! TLS is at bodyshop right now

A woman did a hit & run on my TLS last month, smacked my rear bumper & left. The shop ordered a new lower bumper since I have an Acura spoiler kit on it, the problem is that the old gasket that goes between the upper & lower spoiler is dry rotted & cannot be used again & the one that came with the new lower spoiler is BLACK & not grey. I checked with a friend at Acura & he confirmed it only comes in black now. He suggested using a flex additive & paint it grey, but the shop will not guarantee it will hold up. What should I do? Forget the gasket/seal completely? Or just install the black one or paint it & take a chance it will not peel? Would black look alright?

I don't know why Acura has to do something like that, but I told the shop to use the black colored gasket instead of trying to paint it which will only peel.

IIRC you can get just the stripping from Acura, might be for a different model though, I cant remember. I didnt know they even came in a grey.

I know this would be more money but why not just change all the other gaskets to black? if that one was rotted and old I was assume the others would be to.

I wouldn't sweat it- black will look fine for gaskets between fender panels just like the black for the window trim looks fine.

^ I'm not 100% sure but I think the 09+ molding might be the same thing.

Its just a thin rubber strip at the top edge of the rear aspec lip, and the type s front aspec also has it. Not sure about the 04-06 front or 07-08 base front.

Awesome. Helpful post: I actually have noticed that piece of stripping before and never thought it would be replaceable on my DGP. the body shop hadn't taped it off properly when I did my type-s conversion and had painted part of it with the rest of the lip.

Cheers
