help! silver or anthracite
I might be able to get the silver tonight or tomorrow but I wanted the anthracite. I would have to wait another week, 2 at the most but man this is driving me crazy. Whatever the marketing dept. intended to do well it worked on me coz I'm losing sleep on this lol. So my question is should I get the silver (if it's still there) or wait for the anthracite? BTW this has the navi so I'm kinda surprise they had 2 silver ones when I called last night.

Ok so far thanks for all of you who responded, you have all help ease my anxiety and ya I do love the anthracite. Only thing that is driving me crazy is not knowing the day I'm getting it. All I get is "Don't worry it will be here next week, 2 weeks at the most". Man! There are 7 days in a week, 14 in 2 weeks, pick a freaking day.
The most important thing is I get it before the wedding I have to attend and the So. Ca meet.
Even though alot of TL's have sold I hardly see them so that's cool. Plus no one in my block has one. Everyone has H2, Escalades, BMW, etc. Basically, a music video on my block but no one has a TL. Soon it will be me muahahaha

just went thru the same dilemma....actually had the anthracite located but then changed my mind when i went to the dealer and looked at both colors...i preferred the silver/ebony6MT w/ HPT (and now i have to wait a couple of extra days for it to arrive)...bottom line, go to dealer, take a good look at both colors and then decide - don't let the delivery time be the deciding factor

The silver and the anthracite both look very sharp, personal pref.
Either with a red leather interior.... oh yea... man would that be sharp. Why doesn't anyone do that anymore? Yes, there are BMWs, MB, etc. that do, and they look great. Silver Ferrari 456 or 550, or the new 612 with red interior. NICE. If you could get the a red interior on the TL, would you guys do it? I'm sure some people (maybe all...) will think it's tacky or 70s or 80s or something. Just wondering...

I faced a similar decision a year ago for 2003 TL-S and decided to go with Silver, because it's an EXTREMELLY easy color to maintain: dirt, dings and scratches are almost invisible on it. BUT, I really liked the Anthracite and not a day passed when I didn't regret my decision to get Silver.
So when the time came to decide for the 2004 TL, it was Anthracite without any hesitation (with Ebony interior). There are just way too many silver cars on the road already (of all makes) and Antracite-like colors are still fairly rare. It's a beautiful color and I can't get enough of it!

If you guys noticed the lastest PPG report on color choice, Anthraciate is gaining. Silver was like around 25%, then white, then black????, then Anthracite. Blue was up there somewhere. Blue is very popular in Europe right now. The US tends to follow Europe, so blue may be the new silver within time.
Okay...first...silver or anthracite (God how I hate typing that...who the hell knows how spell that made up color). Neither...NBP
Second...wait two weeks? Wait eight weeks? Hell with that. I decided to buy on Monday, had her by Tuesday

The TL concept picture gallery at http://www.hondanews.com has red all over the interior. A little too much red for my taste.
Hey w1n78, Wassup buddy!
I prefer the silver myself... I find it shows the lines better and looks a tad more classy than anthracite which looks more sporty (and NBP too). I kinda lean to that more... not to say that I don't like the anthracite... I just prefer the SSM.
I like the way the silver catches the color of the sky specially around sunset. The silver also has more of a sleeper personality. The hotrod kids out there will think it's not as fast as it is and then promptly get their arses handed to them on a silver platter...
I think either looks good... heck, the car looks great so whichever you choose... you can NOT go wrong.
just my 2 cents.

The thing that's hard is staying away from this forum lol. I love the anthracite/ebony color and decided a long time ago w/ it but knowing that there is a silver available now and reading people who have their car's threads makes me wanna just give up the wait and take the silver
. I think I can hang but I just saw pics of a TL w/ mod dome lights and F-ing looks dope. Everyday is just a battle til I get this car lol.

Go with what you really want. Even if it means waiting.
I've had opportunity to get a car right away but not what I want, so I'm waiting longer than I thought I would have to. Hopefully only couple more weeks.
So hang in there.
P.S. Is it me (since I'm anxious to get my car) or is every other commercial on TV a car commercial? Can't get away from thinking about it LOL

i have silver + ebony -- IT ROCKS! However, if the anthracite has the Camel (don't care what ANYONE says about the Camel) I would get that.....
The silver stays clean and the Ebony interior is way cool.....btw, either will be fun!

The bottom line is don't settle, if you pull the trigger and then find out you settled for your 2nd choice color "you'll-be-sorry." If you want silver get the silver, if you want antracite, then it's worth the wait.
Remember, you'll most likely have the cars for years and years and years, so in those years, you'll want to have the color you like the best, in the end those two weeks won't even be a memory down the road.

Anthracite!!!!
I didn't even think of considering Anthra cite when i went to the dealership!!
When i saw it.. I just loved it and still do
Ebony interior makes the car look really modern!!
It hides dents dings and all that very well also
Anthracite all the way

I was gonna go for the anthracite but i got the silver instead. I think the silver just looks much more sharp, plus you can see the lines better on the silver. Dont get me wrong, anthracite looks hot too, but i get triple takes when im driving in my silver aspec
Silver is very 1995, don'tcha think? Silver has replaced White as the 'boring color for the masses' nine or so years after it's re-launch on the E Class.
Gunmetal is tasteful, classy, and popular enough to be accepted but not so popular as to be confused with every Honda, Toyota, Ford, Hyundai, and Avis Rent-A-Car in existence.
Additionally, the TL has the same outer contrast issue as exists in the interiors. Unlike Hondas or older Acuras, there's zero chrome on the car (compare the window trim, bumper trim, door handle trim, etc) and the only contrast is the bright silver/aluminum grille, trunk light, and alloys. As such, if you get a Silver TL you get a very very monotone and dull looking exterior with zippo on the contrast meter. Get an Ebony interior with a Silver exterior and you've just purchased the most dull version of any good looking luxury sedan ever created.
Black exterior with Parchment interior will give you the most 'shocking' contrast values; I find that Anthracite exterior with Camel interior is the sweet-spot.....not too shocking, not too dull.
So.....get the Anthracite or get an Accord. Save $10k if you're just trying to 'blend in'. Spend $10k if you're trying to be unique.
Whatever you do, don't put the Puffy Lumps From Hell on the siderails and get the NAV to avoid the JFK Autopsy Photo Effect.

Its nice to have your own opinion but maybe you shouldnt jump on someone elses' color choices because its not you own. The way I see it, the 2004 TL is hot in any color so whoever is still undecided, go for what you like, not on what others think is "dull"

It's Team Antracite!
Mike Smeezy,
OhSoNiceTL- Didn't mean to insult anyone's color choice, but I've got experience here......I just traded in a 2000 RL that was (you guessed it) Silver exterior w/ Ebony interior and it just doesn't compare to my 1995 Legend GS (Champagne exterior w/Parchment interior) and current 2004 TL (Anthracite / Camel).
Yes, it's personal taste. But yes, that's what the original poster asked for. "Opinion".
