Help with Purchasing
All,
I am currently shopping for a new car, and I've fallen in love with an '04 A-spec 6 spd with Navi. I'd like to get a gut check from forum members as to what they think of the deal being offered.
It's an A-spec as I mentioned and fully loaded triple black.
It has 122k miles on is and the dealer is asking 12,995 for it. Is this a good deal? What should I be looking for? Am I likely going to start having issues with this car with that many miles on it already?

damn. That many miles holy crap for just a little more I've heard members get an 07 type s with a lot less milage. I would shy from it unless they throw in 2 years warranty since it's the dealer at the price. Otherwise one year warranty and drop the price to 10k even heheh. Again, that's just me. Here in Hawaii we tend to look at high milage as a no no. If it's well kept and there are maintenance records and very clean interior good leathers with warranty from the dealer sure why not. I would never leave with a car from the dealer without warranty thrown in for a high milage car.

You can find a better deal, depending on your location. I picked up an 05 with navi with 50000 miles for 16.5 in the NE to give you an idea. It's not the best deal I've seen, but it's a pretty solid one. Go for something around that. Personally, I would also shy away from an 04 just being that it was the first year. Just my .02

Depends on your spending power. A '04 A Spec, if a full A-Spec, steering wheel, body package, wheels, badge, etc, 6 Spd w/nav, is not that common and with 122K the drivetrain shouldn't cause any problem, but check the clutch and trans syncros closely. As far as a '04 for problems, ours has 70K and other than the recalls, no problems. Wait, it does have a problem, noisy mirror when it turns down.
If perfect condition, don't be fooled by the looks try for $12k and go from there.
Check Carfax, maintenance records if available, and if any warranty that comes with the car along with a good title.
Enjoy the car.
As far as getting a '07 TL-S for only a few thousand more, I believe it would be quite a task finding a good title, excellent condition, low mileage ’07 TL-S for $14-$15K.

The Box
Is it a true A-spec or just the A-spec lip kit?
If it's a true A-spec, it's probably worth close to that due to it being rare.
A car is worth what you're willing to pay. I just got an 05 6MT with nav/a-spec kit for $16K with 67K on it. I could have probably picked up an 06 with around 50K for that price but not with the options that mine has and it wouldn't have what I want; WDP/Quartz, a-spec, 6mt, nav, etc.
