I bought Amsoil @ Murray's, and bought a Mobile 1 oil filter. Next Time I WILL order an Amsoil oil filter, they are ###1

Info about oil (quatity and weight) can be found in your owner's manual. Here are a few hints.

o Use a torque wrench for the drain plug, set to 29 ft/lbs (or 360 in/lbs).
o Replace the aluminum washer.
o Remove the oil fill cap before you remove the drain plug to aid draining.
o Did I say "use a torque wrench"?

When you are ready to replace the filter, loosen the old one just to the point where you can continue to remove it by hand. Slip a 1-gallon ZipLock bag entirely around the filter and up over the pickup arm a little then beginning the job of finishing the filter removal. You do this because there will be quite a bit of residual oil that will come out as you remove the filter and the ZipLock bag will catch this oil, keeping it from spattering on your suspension, your driveway, and you.

Make sure you inspect the pickup face and determine that the rubber gasket from the old filter did not stick to it (you do not want to install a new filter if this is the case - very bad). Tighten the new filter 3/4's of a turn after contact and you're done. Start the engine and check for leaks around the drain plug and filter.

BTW, the engine takes 4 1/2 US quarts.

4.5 qts of any oil, i have used mobil 1, castrol gtx, valvoline synpower is in there right now...filter is always mobil 1 m1-110

i have never used a torque wrench or a new washer as its just not necessary....

if your laying on your back and using a 3/8" ratchet your not going to beable to overtorque the drain plug...just make it tight but not to the point where you feel like your trying to pull it out.....everyone here should beable to put a damn drain plug on without a torque wrench, come on guys....

you may need a filter socket, i had one from my motorcycles....loosen the filter up a bit and then slip a large ziploc bag over it and spin it off while the oil goes into the baggie...

if your turn your wheels full lock or take off your passenger wheel it makes everything easier....

ps, walmart carries mobil 1 for example, 26 bucks for a 5 qt container....autozone carries a 4qt container for the same price....and individual qts are like 6 bucks a bottle....

this time i used valvoline synpower 5w30 full synthetic and it was 22 bucks for a 5qt container....had to go to autozone for mobil 1 m1-110 filter at 12.99 plus tax....

that bag is a neat trick (literally) to keeping oil out of the environment

Parts stores are required to accept used motor oil free!

you may get away with washer reuse as long as its never been overtorqued
If a quick lube has ever seen your car--its on too tight
Buy a new plug and washer set for $3
new washers in 3 pack $2

Replacement of the sealing washer is a good idea- dissimilar metals and metal softness/hardness and effective sealing being what they are-
IMO its a cheap investment in safety
Hate to have the plug ever fall out!!!

part of the torque wrench use --
is to actually get it TO 29 foot pounds for someone working on the ground without a carefully calibrated elbow

too loose is really bad~

You do as you see fit. I'm offering the right way to do it for one major reason. Steel drain plug, aluminum oil pan. A torque wrench is an inexpensive and easy to use tool that can go a long way to keep someone from stripping threads.

But you do as you see fit. It is your car.

A B1 should not include wipers... That's bogus... And if they include it, that's because they are charging you for it...
