Help! No brackets or other hardware for rear aspec bumper install!

Well I bought a used aspec rear bumper for my 2005 TL, only problem is it does not come with any hardware (specifically the brackets). What should I do? I called around for the brackets and hardware but no one sells them separately. Could use something else instead?

There was a member who posted the same thing. I suggested him to check the box again; he found it. They should all come with them and no you cannot buy it anywhere (I have tried before). You would have to fab one up. If still not found, call whoever sold it to you. Also, you can contact Ack05TL as he may have some (check vendor's list).

Note: even if you don't have them, you can still make it work. I not using any brackets or zip ties (where you have to measure and drill) and it doesn't sag. I just double up the 3m tape and its been on for over 3 years. <------This is just a FYI in case you have no more options.

So no zip ties or brackets and you're just using 3m tape? Man that sounds risky, especially when it rains. But ultimately thats my last resort. Did you end up taking off the rear bumper then? Thanks for your input by the way!

I would at the very least drill the 4 holes in the back to secure the lip, then just use 3M tape. Neither of my brackets are connected since I did the install in the winter and rushed it

Yeah I forgot to mention that. I did drill underneath to place the plastic clips in to hold it incase the 3M tape fail.

I don't know if this will work for the rear lip but on the front where you are suppose to drill and mount the bracket I simply came straight across from the pre-drilled holes in the lip and used plastic spacers with a small bolt and locking nut through the lip and the mounting point on the inside of the bumper. I imagine you could do the same on the rear. Its been on my car for 6 months with no signs of loosening.

Hope that makes sense

I wouldn't improvise, I'd say you'd make your life a lot easier if you had the right parts. You might be able to simply get the lip on but if you want to do a proper job and have it mounted right without rattling etc. do it right the first time around.

You can buy the hardware separate from the bodykit, I was in a similar predicament once and looked it up before. (I think....I could be wrong, but I could have sworn I've seen it listed somewhere.)

the brackets for the rear lip are available separately

002 08F03-SEP-200R2 HARDWARE KIT, SPOILER 001 2008 TL 21.52 16.14

Check acuraoemparts or oemacuraparts

For the 2007 or 2008 Acura TL Type-S, the metal brackets for the rear underspoiler are available separately and are identical on the Type-S rear underspoiler to the 04-06 A-SPEC underspoiler.

I remember them being the same, I had the 05 A-SPEC kit on my car and put the 07-08 Type-S A-SPEC rear lip on my car, the new brackets were identical.

You can also get some of those zip-tie like things that can be stuck onto something and zipped through the rear bumper from silicone intakes.

Here:

I scoured the internet for hours for these things and this is the only place I could find them.

The ones you won't find anywhere are the brackets for the 04-06 front A-SPEC kit and the template.

As a note if you get an aftermarket rear underspoiler like the Type-S one (Non-oem) it's not going to include any of the mounting hardware, if you pick it up OEM it'll come with the hardware and painted, so no reason to go with aftermarket. I remember a body shop guy asking me about that one time because he was using aftermarket stuff that he had to paint and didn't come with the hardware and was wondering how I got a painted lip with all of the OEM hardware.

Interesting............no wonder every dealer I spoke to told me that. I was unaware of the 07-08 having a part number.

Thanks for that info
