help needed : scratch on window?

Hey guys,

first time poster here

anyhow, I just got a 2k5 ABP/AT/non-nav and i noticed that on my driver's side window there are a couple of streaks that look like scratches. I'm pretty sure its not just dirt or streaks from dried water since i had rubbed the area with my finger as well as a towel.

questions is what product can i use to to remove those streaks? they arent very big and not deep. i know you can use something for eye-glasses that removes scratches, can i use the same for the windows?

dunno if this belongs in wax n wash or not...thanks for the help.

my 04 had the right rear passenger window scratched about 6-8" on delivery, dealer figured it was probably the tie-down chains used by the transport truck haulers. Dealer replaced the window at no cost since I hadn't taken delivery of it. They did try a few things to fix it first but the scratch was too deep. Call ahead cause they had to special order the window from Acura and it took a few weeks before it was installed.

my scratches are only about 1-1.5 inches but i guess it could be from the chains. I'll go ahead and call the dealer to see what they say about it.

is there an easier solution though? replacing the window would be kind of a big hassle

clean it to see if it isn't dirt, otherwise try a rubbing compound on it, you can probably rub out the scratches

It may not require a full window replacement. You may be able to get the dealer to send someone to you to compound out the scratches. We had the prob on my wife's vehicle. Tempered glass is awfully hard to hand rub, this guy did a great job and was handled / paid by the dealer.

Personally, I would take it back to the dealer and let them deal with it. For 35G's+, it's the least they could do. If you start messin' with it, they can say, you screwed it up. All it's gonna cost you is time .....
