I get both of my filters for my '04 and '05 TL at either AutoZone or Advance Auto. They are both sold under the Purolator brand and their numbers are;

Engine Air Filter: A25585
Cabin Air Filter : C35519

Examine the side of the engine air filter and make sure it is made in Israel. Occasionally it will be one made in Mexico which is not nearly as good as the one made in Israel.

Best best to buy filters is from www.rockauto.com.

The best cabin filter is the ATP-HA5 for $16, the Fram CA9600 air filter is $10.87.

Bosch makes an excellent cabin filter- treated with the microallergen resistant whatevers-
about $17 for the pair in a box it requires- just one box containing 2 filters- they sit side by side in a tray that slides in- see DIY for help accessing behind glovebox. Not hard, just need to know what to do

Engine air filter- whatever name brand is fine- look at it and feel in your hands- is this quality compared to the next brand. Many parts names are made on the same production line.
OE is not always the best quality parts- thats why there are so many choices aftermarket
Walk into most parts stores and get what you need
K&N air filters last forever (unless you plan on more than 1 million miles from your car)
and you clean them once a year for max efficiency ($12 kit treats 5 times)-
50 bucks once, instead of 25 over and over- may improve mileage too!

01tl4tl, I've actually heard that K&N just lets more air in, thus giving dust a chance to get in as well. Is this how K&N works? The filter isn't filtering as much as other filters; therefore, we get better performance. More air, more power, right? Our computer mixes fuel with air accordingly.

autozone around here doesn't carry purolator in stock. Sears and Advance auto do though.
