Help keep an eye out on the green light on your memory button

i was under the impression that the green light indicator on the memory buttons stay lit from the moment you enter the car. so when you unlock with your remote and start the engine it detects which driver and sets the seat. then the indicator lights up on either #1 or #2, according to the remote you're using.

i know that if you change the position of the seat during anytime, the indicator will go off. to indicate that the position was changed from memory settings. my question is, if you don't change it and just keep driving does it stay lit at all times?

mine goes off at random times while driving even if i don't change the position of my seat. and for some reason i feel that i have to start looking upwards after a few mins of driving. as if my seat position is lowering on it's own. possibly due to bumpy roads? and maybe also the reason why my indicator goes off.

if anyone can remember to check the light next time you're driving and see if it goes off, i would appreciate it.

is there such a thing as defective seats? maybe a defect in the motor mechanism that adjusts the seats position? something loose inside?

thanks!

What is your VIN #. Is it below 15000. There was a TSB to get the chip change for mem unit. DOes your mem module keeps the memory or it forgets?

the light stays lit the whole time for me. what you are describing should not happen. i would suggest bringing it to the dealer to have them look at it. there was a problem with the memory seat for early vin #'s like joganjani said but you got your car recently so i don't know if its the same problem.

i'm not sure which set of # refers to production time but both start well over 15000. is it the one after 19UUA or the last 5 digits of the VIN?

anyhow, my memory keeps the settings. i don't think it's a chip problem. more like the mechanism is damaged or something. i assume it lowers when i go over a bump or something. i will see if this continues to happen and bring it up to my dealer.

thanks!

I'm sure that everyone may know this already. However, if you shift into reverse, the memory light will go out (because the mirror tilts down -- which means that your memory setting has been changed). As soon as you shift back into drive, the memory light should come right back on.

As cTLgo mentioned it is the last 5 digits.

Also, are you sure that it is NOT lit? The reason I ask this is because I thought so myself, until I "cupped" my hand around the button and I saw that it was still lit, it was just harder to see during daylight. At night of course, it is very visible.

As for mine, yes it is not lit. It's a quite obvious for me, since when my wife gets into the car (with her key) the seat just doesn’t move (even though we have programmed it 4 times already). Of course, when I get in, the seat doesn’t move back (even when pressing the right mem button).

Weird though, after we program it, it will keep the setting for about a week, and then forget.

I took it into my dealer today, they advised there was a TSB as stated previously, for the exactly issue I am describing.

When I shift out of "P", then "R", into "N", it's not lit during this process.

Besides that, mine has no issues at all after getting the replacement of the memory module.

Edit: PoochaKannInc, it could be the reason... Thanks.

Yes, a lot of our members with the earlier VINS got their seat memory module replaced, and have not reported any problems since.

alextclam seems to have the memory retention of the seats, but no indicator on the button, which is the only reason I was wondering whether it is just a visibility issue or not.

Rets, I'm not sure if this is related, but I did not know this before asmunroe mentioned it. Maybe this is what you are experiencing?

Do u change/adjust the sideview mirrors, once u r seated or driving around. That should also trigger the light to go out.

Seat Memory Malfunction on '05 TL

My memory function has never worked on my '05. I took it in to the dealer yesterday. The memory function is simply dead. None of the three buttons is active at all.

I know this was a pervasive problem on the '04 TL, but has anyone experienced this problem on a 2005 TL yet?

Hey guys, this is kind of reviving an old thread but does anybody have any updates on this problem? The only reason I ask is because earlier today I've started experiencing this problem:

The three buttons on the door associated with the memory settings seem to be completley dead. Thus the linked keyfob does not work and I am not able to set any new settings for the seat/mirrors. Not only that, but now when the car is in Reverse, the mirror's will not turn down like before. I was curious about this and tried to simply adjust the mirrors by using the button only to find that the mirror will only move down and/or to the left, but not right or up.

Also, as far as the recall goes, my vin# is well above 15000 so I don't really have any leads as to what went wrong. If anyone can help or has any info I'd greatly appreciate it. Thanks in advance.

Question Fuse Problem?

Chusteveb..

This sounds like you might have a fuse blown. There were a few threads posted last month, earlier this month with seveal owners reporting problems with the outside mirrors not functioning due to ice buildup and subsequent blown fuse.

I did not re-check the old posts but I do think they had the fuse # related to this problem. It is worth a shot.

Hope all works out

Did you unlock memory before trying to program it? It took my dealer about 3 hours to figure out they needed to flip the switch to the unlock position.

Exclamation If you have unlink/re-link your memory and done all the tests...

Some cars with VINs above 18476 "may" get the failure memory module. If so, you're not the first one. Please check with your dealer, they have a way to quickly diagnose it.

Seat settings

Hi Guys,

I don't have my TL yet (still pending getting rid of my 03 Outlander) so don't flame me for not RTFM which I don't have. It would be nice to be able to read/download it from Acura's website say in PDF format like you can on electronics - maybe a project for someone with a lot of time on their hands?
:-)

My question is:

Okay, so you entered two settings for the drivers seat. Does the seat start moving when I unlock the car with the FOB? Because if I have to sit first it kinda defeats the purpose for me because I won't be able to.

My wife is not short but I'm 6'6" so I always have to move the seat back and the recline it before I can get in. If I still have to do that with the TL then I've done half the work already. Of course it will be good for my wife, she'll be able to get in and everything will fall into place.

I guess I can just ask her to hit my button before she gets out. Can you do that or is it totally based on FOB and each key?

Jeez we are spoiled. Maybe we should just get one of cars with seats that come out of the car, you sit and it goes back in like they have for the physically challenged.

Thanks in advance

Brgds

The seat will respond to the keyfob that was used when the memory was set, so if you are keyfob #1, and you set the seat where you want it, and wife (keyfob #2) sets the seat where she wants it, then each keyfob will return the seat to its preferred setting.

The memory will also remember the mirror settings and the preferences set in the MID, individually for each keyfob.

In addition to this, the keyfob will remember the last setting that each user had on the Air Conditioning system, but in this case it will only do it if a different keyfob was used the previous time to open the door. So if you have the A/C set to your preferences and the wife uses her keyfob, the A/C will change to her preferences, but if she changes the settings, goes into the store, comes out and unlock the doors, it will not change the last settings.

Confused by now? It will get clearer when you get your TL and do some hands-on training.

Thanks Ron, but does the seat start moving when you unlock the doors by pressing the fob button or only when you get in and stick the key into the ignition (and start the car?) ?

Thanks again.

Not sure if it applies to all situations, but from what I have noticed the seats move when the FOB button is pressed AND then the door is opened. If just the button is pressed it will not move until the door is opened.

I have the same problem. I've already called the dealer to get it diagnosed. One thing I noticed is after the light goes out (randomly) and you change the driver seat position, get out, lock and re-enter the car, the light comes back again . My vin is < 15000.
