HELP! has anyone seen wood trim around instrument cluster n' the navi or hvac scren?
Hello everyone,
just purchased an 05 tl. It has wooden trim around the instrument cluster n' the hvac screen, covering all the way down to the cassette player. However, i have seen wooden trim on the bottom of the console in my many TLs but have never witnessed it around the gauage cluster and aroud the hvac screen. So my question is: is it possible to just pry it off? if so what would i find underneath? black plasitc like most TLs? I am just looking to have black plastic trim like mot TLs. However, i dont mind having the bottom two lids of the console as wooden trim.....thanks a lot...Lastly, i was wondering if all that wood comes stock or is after market...just so ugly

You can take off some of the woodgrain, but some of it is stock (around shift area and door panel trim).
This is what stock looks like:

Definitely aftermarket kit you have.
Wrap it in 3M Di-Noc vinyl

It sounds aftermarket- the factory trim is on the doors and the lower console. Anything else is aftermarket. Some extra trim looks nice- too much looks like a 'wood bomb' went off in the car. Unfortunately, some of the kits use an 'adhesion promoter' (essentially super glue) used prior to the applique. It might be hard to remove if you take off the applique. As above, if there is residual promoter on the plastics, wrap it in the 3M CF vinyl- really looks good.

A lot of that wood is aftermarket, it's called a dash kit and quite a few companies make it in a variety of patterns such as Carbon Fiber, brushed silver, etc. This one is meant to match the factory wood and is a bit overdone.
This is what the stock car is supposed to look like:
