Unless you need to remove a wheel (like for brakes) I use ramps for oil changes and most basic stuff instead of a jack and jackstands. They are called Rhino Ramps, cost about $30. Most auto parts places carry them, so does Walmart.

I recently bought some jack stands at walmart for about 25 bucks. They are rated at 2 tons. I used them to install my RV-6 J-Pipe. Worked well but require the use of a decent jack to get the car high enough. I chose the jack stands over the ramps because the ramps take up more space in the garage and you can not take the wheels off when using them. Either are good choices just depends on what you are using them for.
