your question cannot be answered by us.
buying a car is a game. you want as much leverage as you possibly can get.
defects, how much time the car has sat on the lot, auto/man, and other aspects play a part in decreasing the price.
you also didnt include details about your loan, indicating your payment of >300 per month
*edit*
with both of those cars at their current price point, and with my APR of 4.25%; they are both at 300 or less per month.
so either you have bad credit, no credit or must not be putting any down payment.
When you go to discuss price with the salesman, he's going to have you sit in his office for hours on end, negotiation back and fourth over price. Remember, he wants to sell the car for as much as possible. You want to buy the car for the least amount possible.
Both of you are going to have to come to a middle ground for it to be a fair deal.
One of you is going to get tired, and it wont be him.

If you're asking which is the better deal I would probably go with the 06 based on the information you provided. Especially if you can get it for 16 even. Simply because it is a year newer and less miles. But there are so many factors beyond that so it makes it hard for us to advise. Like Princess said, it's all in the negotiations, etc...

REMEMBER, the dealer is out to make money.
I advise you to look at all your options available to you.
you never told us anything about your finances, if you have money for a down payment, if you can afford the maintenance, if you can afford the gas, how about insurance?
all in all this car is going to be more than 300/month with gas and insurance accounted for.
oil changes? tires? (i wore my tires down in less than a year.....)
you said you dont know what finance rate you'll receive, apply for 15k loan at any bank or credit union and see what kind of rate they give you.

YIKES, I would never touch a loan that is at 8% or higher....
When I bought my car the dealer gave me 8.9 percent rate. This was my first time financing a car. I put more than half down and after two months I went to my credit union and refinanced the loan at a rate of 3.5 percent.
i can afford the car, its just that it's my first time doing this instead of the traditional way and get hammered by the salesman with high rates.i haven't called geico i should do that though.
there's a credit union near me that's giving 3.79% for 36 months i think.
i will be putting 10% down on a car.

36 months is 3 years.
10% of 16000 is 1600.
YIkes. looks like an expensive car.
Well, the price of the car stays the same... if he can afford the payment of a 36 month loan then he should definitely go for it... it just means less interest paid. And 3.79% is pretty good. This is all based off of the assumption that he can afford a ~$15k car with a 36 month loan of course.
So, lets say you negotiated the 06 down to 16500.
minus 1600 = 14900 + TTL(you said 6% = 894) = $15,794.
Lets say you dont qualify for the 3.79 but do qualify for under 8. lets say 5% at 3 years.
you'll be paying 473.36 every month for 3 years.

Is the cars similarly equipped, i.e. do both have Navigation systems or not have Navigation?
That makes a difference on the prices.
You should apply and get pre-approved for a loan before buying.
Once you have loan approval, you can also use that loan to negotiate a better loan with the dealer (which makes money on financing).
Welcome to AZ.

Take your $1600 and buy a 1990s accord. Save your $300 a month + the difference in sales tax and insurance and pay cash for a TL in a few years. You might find it harder to spend after you felt the pain of how hard it is to save.
you should save at least a couple grand.
I negotiated my car down to $21,xxx. with tax and title came out to be $23,500.
I put down 5 grand, which left me a balance of $18,500.
interest rate of 4.25% for 5 years.
my payments are $350.xx a month.
insurance at full coverage at the time I bought was 200 a month. it has now gone down to 170/month
I pay 40 dollars every fill up. I pay about 40 dollars per oil change.
I'm looking at tires in a couple of months, there goes 600 dollars.

depends on what year and the condition. some VQ motors have oil consumption issues. again, it sounds like you cannot afford a 15k car. should be looking at lower price points.

but i will aim search for something lower and save a couple grand for payment down.
the g35x is 2004 pricing at 12 grand on cars.com.
i'm just keeping my options open.
Save all of it. Pay cash for whatever you can afford when the 99 dies, which should not be for a long time. You should be able to save a pretty penny if you are serious about it.
I thought that my $320 a year for insurance was high...

acouple of accidents will do that
good lord.. I pay 404/month for my 08.

Even though it seems better to come up with the money from a 3rd party source like a credit union, most dealerships will give you a better price by financing through them.
Also, I advise you to wait if those two aren't equipped the navigation system unless you get a very good deal.
Since it seems like this is your first time buying a car, word of advice, DO NOT GET ATTACHED. Young adults always get lured into the "hottest" car and they regret it in a year or two. Research on every TL, check CarFax, get a mechanic, etc...

i agree he will not get tired on the selling price, i sell cars myself and i dont let the customer off easy...just work the guy and dont make it a hard process if its come down to price. But you need to decide which car you want first before you go asking questions make sure its the rite color you want and the miles work for you even though there so close to each other. make sure its a clean car no accident reports and check the whole car out from tires to how the brakes feel to the interior and exterior you can always use that. Hope you get one soon, good luck!
