help with brake pads

First of all, my TL is an '05 6MT, so it comes stock with the Brembos.

I'm looking to get a pair of Hawk Performance front brake pads.

I've placed an order for this part number: HB366Z.681
With this description: Disc Brake Pad; Performance Ceramic w/0.681 Thickness; Front;

It doesn't specifically say that it will fit on my TL.

Now, on the HeelToeAuto website, they got these ones:
Part number: HB530Z.570
Hawk Performance Ceramic Front Brake Pad Kit 04-08 ACURA UA6 TL w/BREMBO

To my understanding, the main difference is that the one on the HeelToe website has a thickness of 0.570, while the one I order has a thickness of 0.681

Will both of these work for the TL? I'm a bit confused!

Don't get the Hawk pads. I had them and took them off the car. Didn't stop well, made a horrible noise, and overall not worth the cash. The OEM pads are so far the best I've tried

really? i've heard a lot of good stuff about Hawk. what i don't like about the OEM ones is that they dust so much!

Maybe you'll have a better experience. I also have the RB rotors, so probably not the best match, even though they were advertised as that...

Dust is annoying but I'd take it over crappy braking.

As for your thickness question - I have no idea

RacingBrake now makes a pad for the brembo cars, iirc its the ET500 series for the more aggressive street driver,
Some dusting is normal, heavy dusting means you went for a fun run~
Brake dust is a result of friction turned to heat, and micro sized bits of pad come flying off and hit the rim
Wax the rims with 3 coats synthetic car wax- helps the brake paticulate matter slide right off as it hits - then less road dust attaches to it

check MrHeelToe for them
The pad thickness is important as there may not be enough room for them in the caliper!
Can cause binding or sticking of the pads

check heeltoes signature on his post- has a secret discount code for ziners in it

chkn- you already placed an order and now want to know if they will fit?
What book said they were the right pads?

Yeah. Thats what I did... lol
At the local parts store, they had a catalogue for Hawk Peformance brakes. In the catalogue, they had brakes for the 2005 Acura TL, however they didn't have one SPECIFICALLY for the 6MT. In fact, it didn't differentiate between A/T or M/T.

Now after looking up what I ordered and comparing to the HeelToe site, it seems to me that the one I ordered is actually for the A/T TL's.

That'll be an option later, but right now my main concern is if the one I bought will fit on my car

If you bought the auto pads they will not fit the manual

According to tire rack, you bought the hawk pads for the automatic transmission, not the manual. They are a different size so you will have to return them.

There is a thread here about Duralast Gold Cmax pads and it seems everyone has good experience, low dust and it only cost 60 bucks from autozone. I going to get those when my OE pads are done.

I'd love to buy them from autozone, but unfortunately they don't ship to CanadaThanks subinf, i'll have to return the brakes and see what else they got. (Exchange or store credit only)

I had hawp HPS on my 01 for 5000 miles, then installed racingbrake pads when they were first made
Unlike sub, I had no noise issues and the dusting was typical of hawks- they stop good and therfore make dust
Waxing the rims cuts down on dust retention

If thats your only brand choice on the exchange- go for it

The stock pads are the best going, but I also couldn't stand the dusting. So I installed Rotex Gold Kevlars 43,000 miles ago and the dusting dropped around 80-90% (no more than an automatic TL). If you are hard on your car or if you race it, stick with the stock pads. But if your driving is all normal street use, the Rotex pads are fine.

^ - Based on your initial review of the Rotex pads, I went and bought a pair and installed them. I thought they were great. It has been so long I can't remember how they compared with the stock performance wise, but the lack of dust was great. Only reason why I didn't buy them again is because I wanted to see what else was out there

I had good luck with the Axxis Deluxe Plus pads on my '02 TL-S. They had great stopping with almost no dust. I will probably use these on my '08 TL-S when the time comes.

I well remember you and I sharing info on these and other pads for the manual TL and I thank you for your help. Are you back to the OEM pads or have you installed something else.. and if so, what did you go with?

I'm back with the OEM pads. Not happy with what Hawk makes. Still have about 6 months before I need to buy again, not sure whether I want to continue to deal with the dust, try something else, or order the Rotex again
