Help! Bad color selection

Silver is by the most popular exterior color for the TL Yet amazingly, the interior for the Silver car comes in only two shades: Dark and Darker. (Quartz and Ebony)

Who was the bonehead who decided to have only Dark and Darker for the Interior? I would want to order a Silver TL with a parchment interior. Any suggestions?

Stay in boca - J/K

No suggestions, I wanted WDP with Ebony, had that in my past car (non-Acura), it was a great combo for me, but Acura USA stopped that color this year (Canada has it though)

One of the (many) reasons my wife chose her S60 is because she got it in Silver/Tan. In Florida it is painful to have a dark interior color so I chose camel for the interior of my TL.

Perhaps wait for the 2005's to roll out.....perhaps they will mix and match the color combo's a bit. That's about the only change I would expect between a 2004 and 2005....maybe subtle changes like blinking sidemarker lights or integrated mirror lights.

Good idea. I might also wait for the following reasons:

Crappy Bridgeston tires on the TL and related vibrations described elsewhere.

Poor design in terms of the TL interior without Navigation. It looks unfinished somehow. I am guessing they will improve the look next year as well . .. even throw in a simple digital compass as well (for crying out loud, it is a $34,000 vehicle!

Come on , Acura, we expect better!

Good call on the tires, Mitch....how could I forget about those. All the reviews I've read on the EL-42 aren't too favorable.

I dont think a parchment interior really matches with a silver exterior.

Parchment is an earth tone and silver is not. It's hard to explain, but there are certain rules about combining colors. For instance, a quartz interior would look strange on a green exterior.

Here are the color combos Acura should've had:

Exterior/Interior

White - Tan/Grey/Black
Gold - Tan
Silver - Grey/Black
Red - Tan/Grey/Black
Green - Tan
Blue - Tan/Grey
Charcoal Grey - Grey/Black
Black - Tan/Grey/Black

As for DARK and DARKER, that's one of my big complaints about the Quartz. It's too dark. It should be a lighter shade of grey.

I think we bothagree on that! "Quartz" is way too dark a shade of gray!!

(And I have never seen quartz that looks anything like that . .. I guess the high-paid creative types at Acura had to come up with a cute name for "Stone" and came up with Quartz, even if it makes no real sense.)

I agree about the color matching woes. Maybe a lighter gray should be offered in addition to Quartz. I for one am glad they offer two choices in "tan" because Parchment looks like a million bucks but, in my opinion, is too hard to keep clean. No offense to you folks with parchment... you are my heros for keeping that interior clean.

Anything lighter than Quartz would be too hard to keep clean and I wouldn't want want it no matter how good it looked. Moose's idea of two gray's is a good idea but in addition to a lighter version for those that enjoy high maintanance cleaning (perfect match for the personalities who get the black exterior), I'd make the second gray darker than the current Quartz for those who want practicality.

I was particularly disappointed with the interior colour choices in Canada. To contradict an earlier post, ebony is not available as an interior color with a WDP exterior. The color choices in Canada are very limited. Check it out at http://www.acura.ca.

Just my two cents...I also think silver paint with parchment was a bad combination, and its easy to understand why Acura did away with it. I was really disappointed Acura got rid of Ebony leather with White Diamond Pearl paint. I like the Desert Mist with Ebony interior. I think Green should have come with Ebony interior.

Lastly, I love my quartz interior.

Cheap: Find a friend with a parchment interior and swap interior parts.

More expensive: Buy a White TL with parchment interior and pait it silver!

The quartz may be a little on the dark side for the silver exterior, but it is nigh on perfect for the anthracite. My wife has a silver 4runner with stone? (lighter quartz color) and it looks really good.
I personally can not take the IMHO "overpowering" effect of the camel and parchement. Also Ebony is too dark and monotone for my tastes. Everybody has an opinion on this. At least Acura gave us a few more choices than it has in the past.
