Thumbs up Help with ACURA TL 2005 or 2004 with NAVI

Hi,

I posted help for a 2002-2003 Tl-s with Navi, but I want it Black on Black and I want a back up plan. So I am asking for new TL owners to help me with a few questions.

1. Is there a Type S on the new models?? Or is that a thing of the past (All seem to be 270hp)

2.Can 04-05's come with factory fog lights.

3.Can the Navi system play DVD movies?? or just cd music?

4. Is there a diffrence bewteen the 04 and 05 TL models? Should I be leary of the 04' model, seeing that its the 1st year of a new generation?

And lastly, wondering what kind of payments to expect with little or no money down , Is anyone here leasing or buying?

Thanks

ezy

1. No Type-S, just A-SPEC upgrades
2. The fogs are integrated into the headlights. Haven't seen anyone with aftermarket fogs, yet.
3. The Navi can play DVD's with a simple mod, but it will cost you a couple hundred $.
4. There are only minor changes from 04 to 05. I think the biggest change was the design of the front seats.

payments would depend on the final price, the length of the lease/loan term and a few other things...

Thanks for the fast response.

I am guessing that you own a new TL.

I am readingon edmunds.com that the rear seats DO NOT fold down, and there is no trunk pop button in the car , only on the remote.

And you can only use 91 octane fuel? not 87.

Also, reading that the inside rattles when driving.

I am sold on Acura, but still not sold on which model?? I like the TSX, just the HP is two low for me.

1. no type S, just 270 HP,
2. Yes, but in the headlight housing
3. Navi only plays DVD audio and normal audio, not even MP3 cds, still a great sound system. Modifications to watch dvds can be made.
4. 05 has better seats and an additional passenger airbag sensor
5. Dunno

1. No Type-S - everything is the same

2. I don't believe so

3. With a mod they can, check the Audio sub-forum for more details

4. Yea, the '05 has upgraded seats and siginificantly fewer rattles, plus a few other minor tweaks.

There is a trunk release button below the steering wheel on the left.

1. No S type

2. Yes- around here they are a $700 option.

3. Same answer as everyone else.

4. Front passenger seat is heated and 4 way powered. 04's were not powered.

5. Very expensive. I put 15000 down-payment 400.

You must have an outrageous interest rate. I put less than half of what you put down and my payments are smaller. (depends on your term as well)

That sounds like a TSX, not a TL

what do you currently drive? i was actually looking to get a TSX, but ended up in a TL as there were virtually no TSX in the area. TSX is a SWEET car... the handling, and the feeling of the car, is much better and if you get the 6MT, the 200 hp /166 lb/ft would be sufficient around town... plus you can do a few bolt ons to give it a few more ponies.
you're just going to have to test drive both back to back and decide for yourself... also, imo, the TSX will have a better, higher resale value than the TLs.
if you wait a couple more months, you can get a decent deal on a lease.

The 04 does have passenger airbag sensor. It's just that in the 05 the indicator light is moved to where the hazard button is.

I know the 04 has a passenger airbag sensor. I also heard that the 05 has an additional input variable for the passenger airbag. Either the weight, or the sensors in the back of the seat, not sure which.

THe TL is more luxery then the TSX, the TSX is smaller then the TL. If you were gonna go for a smaller acura I would recomend the RSX. TL is a near perfect blend of luxery and sport. RL is more luxery, TSX/RSX is more sport. THe NSX is race, the MDX is hauling.

The sensor is in the back of the seat. That's why the passenger seat is only heated on the bottom.

I have a 6 speed navi 05. here are you answers

1. No Type S model. But all 04 and 05 models are just like Type S. 270HP 237 Torque. Good thing about this is that when your insurance company asks if your TL is a Type S, you can honestly tell them no, and you save a little money

2. There are fog lights, but not like on other cars, they are on the same level as the headlights

3. Just CD Music and DVD-A. (it would be cool if it could play DVD's though )

4. The only difference is the airbag sensor for the passenger seat indicator is now above the hazzard button.

I put down $6000 on mine. I purchased, and my payments are $575/month, for 60 months. 4.09% APR. bought last November.
