Hello from South Dakota!
Just purchased a new to me 2008 TL black/black with 93k miles. I've been a long time Honda fan (3 Accords and 1 Odyssey) and this is my first Acura. The vehicles primary purpose will be highway travel for work. I cover a large geography and this vehicle offered the most bang for my dollar.
My other current vehicles are a '94 F-250 Turbo Diesel (only 67k original miles), '02 Odyssey EX-L (155k miles) and an '89 Porsche 944 Turbo (89k miles). I'm no super mechanic but I do most of my own routine maintenance on these cars.
The TL was purchased from Honda credit as a lease return. I'm not too concerned about the high miles as 93k in two years means a lot of highway use. That and it's an Acura right?
I should take delivery of it sometime next week.

welcome to the forum, speedieguy!
as far as maintenance, it is very straight forward on the TL.
one thing you'll have to do in the next 10k is the timing belt service, runs about $1-1.5k at the dealership. there is a DIY thread here where people have done this themselves. will save you a lot of money, but it is also time consuming.
enjoy your TL!

Thank you SharksBreath. I'm already looking into getting the timing belt replaced. The kits aren't too expensive so they must charge a lot for shop time. I think me and my buddies might be able to tackle it.

Congrats and welcome!
Make sure you read up on all the maintenance and stuff on the site. There's good stuff here. Specifically, pay attention to the 105k service stuff and check out the threads for the transmission maintenance. Especially if you drive a lot! Again, congrats!

What are you all getting for gas mileage? I did a search and only found threads where people where having problems.
So what kind of real world city/highway mileage can I expect?

Thank you for the warm welcome and the mpg figures everyone! Being that I'm a field rep and this car will be my mobile office I was really hoping that there is a posibility of getting close to 30mpg.
Told my kids that the color of the car was called Nighthawk Black Pearl. There response was, "The Black Pearl? Like in Pirates of the Caribbean?" So now the car has it's name.
Does that make me Captain Jack Sparrow?

You won't get 30 unless you do almost all highway miles but I think you'll be very pleased with the mix of power and effeciency that the TL offers. Just make sure you keep your tires properly inflated and use premium gasoline. It'll cost you a few more coin but it makes up for it because the engine prefers it.
I drive about 100+ miles a day round trip for work and I am happy with my car. I don't feel like I'm getting killed with the mileage but I don't need to get out and push when I merge on the freeway.

My territory is the state of South Dakota so 90+% of the miles will be highway. Traffic moves close to 80mph so I doubt that will return the best effeciency.
Most of the 91-93 octane gas here uses 10% ethanol. And since it's subsidized it's about the same price as regular. The problem is that you lose effeciency with ethanol. So I suspect 30mpg might be wishful thinking.

30mpg is possible! You've just gotta be gentle with it

Best I've ever gotten for a week of work commuting, which meant through residential areas and a small city, was 27.98 MPG. Best highway mileage was 33.94 MPG. Both of these checks are accurate and were in the summer (when you tend to get better mileage), the car was within 14 months old ('04 manual), and the factory touring EL42 tires were still on the car. The highway mileage I reported was for the first leg of a vacation trip and the A/C was running in AUTO mode.
If fuel economy is a prime consideration, you want to use a quality set of touring tires since they will tend to have lower rolling resistance. If your car is in good condition and you drive normally, you should be able to hit between 30 and 32 on the highway, perhaps more when speeds are under 75. Go much over that speed and expect to loose a little mileage.
