My name is Bishoy and I just bought a 2007 Acura TL Type-S this past weekend. I have loved Acuras since I can remember and my previous car was a 1995 Acura Legend Coupe. Well, enough about me, lets talk about my sexy new ride!

I was doing some reading and I just had few questions about stuff.

1. What does AngryDad's Trip computer hack do exactly?
2. Is there a govern on this car? I took my Legend all the way up to 160 but I dont plan on doing that with the TL. I'm just being curious.
3. (I know this is illegal but,) is there a way I can download the newest Navi DVD for free from torrents, etc.?
4. Is doing all the navi mods and hacks safe and reliable (In other words, is there any chance AT ALL it will perform any worse or slower than the OEM or is there a chance i loose a feature or two, etc. etc.)

you may have been better suited for posting under the navigation section of the forum for this.
I think the trip hack just displays ur trip info on the navi screen, nothing overly fancy.
I'm sure u can find anything u want on the internet, but I think the dvd loads firmware based on version number, so if you download something and it's a dud, putting your factory dvd in won't automagically fix it.
as far as mods, i think ok screen bypass and different wallpaper image are pretty harmless, and there are lots of instructions for those. honestly I didnt bother, i have my video hookup for the ipod/iphone and that's all that i wanted.
btw, i'm not sure the limiter is set to, but i'm sure someone here does but u won't make it to 160mph.

 

120's ... for the 2007 TL-S automatic. I believe that it is set to the same speed the RL is governed to. I think the manual goes up to the 150's. But don't quote me on that.

 

My 08 type s wouldnt pass 130 and its an automatic

 

I thought I read somewhere that the automatic was governed to 127 MPH. The manual has no such thing and supposedly can hit 153.

 

This is what my friend tells me to do :wink:, I wouldn't torrent it, but maybe ask a couple of your friends to buy a legit disk, spilt the cost and make copies.

 

do you know anyone who has successfully done the ok screen bypass or changed wallpapers on an 07-08? I've been trying to get rid of the ok screen forever

 

The only Navi mod for the 07/08 is the background image. And I don't think you can copy an original disc. Anyway, congrats on your new Sexy ride and welcome to AZ. I also have an 87 Legend, but it don't run.....
