Heavy Duty Trunk Springs?...Anyone know where to get them?
Based on the fact that they sell a tool on handaaccessories(dot)com for the spring...I'm guessing they have a heavier duty one that increases tension to "help" with opening the trunk.
Reason I'm looking is I have an aspec spoiler to begin with, which already made it not really pop up when released and have added a few pounds of deadener to it so now it's actually kind of heavy to open.
Anyone know where I can find them and/or a diy to changing the springs?
Thank you!
J

Thanks guys...
To be honest with you...my stepfather originally purchased this car in December of 2003 so there are some things that are missing (it was even called sport package at the time because A-spec didn't exist) so I don't have the cool steering wheel, might not have had the aspec suspension and highly doubt they changed out the springs in the trunk pop.

Well the point I was making was that I have an aspec already...but it's missing certain pieces and I think it's because the dealer just installed the stuff that was visible.
So I will have to order the springs separately.

You have the tool to install it or the spring itself? What color spring is it? 1 or the pair?
PM me how much you want. It's something I'd like to fix, but it's not a necessity, as you know.

I am pretty sure there is a weight inside the trunk lid that keeps it from opening very much. Look at the " Putting the TL on a diet" thread I think he pulled it out and said his trunk opens super wide.

Really...that is a start. Thank you. I also read in another related thread (above) that you can put your spring on a 2nd perch to make it have more tension.
This has been a problem for a while...but the addition of deadener sealed the deal. Literally.

its actually a stiffer trunk torsion bar that supports the extra weight. I dont have the tool to install it but i think it can be done without it. Its just going to take a little more time
i dont know what the price of it is.... just give me your best offer i guess.

Vibration damper is located inside trunk lid.
But, the main thing that makes the trunk lid to be much lighter is removing the liner material. As you can see in my pic, the back side of my truck lid has no liner.
This is how high my trunk pops open when I hit the remote because the trunk lid is so light now.
Removing the weight and/or removing the liner caused no vibrations or noises. With the liner removed, it just caused a different sound when you slam the trunk closed. Made it sound "cheaper" instead of having that luxury Acura solid sound. Has a "tink" sound instead of the solid "thump" sound when slamming the trunk closed.
Cheers
