Headrest rubbing problem...

I have only put 500 miles on my TL and I recently noticed that the driver side head rest is slight off center and rubs the corner of the seat pretty badly. I actually had put an indention in the leather on both the headrest and the seat. If I have the head rest down all the way, I get real bad leather creaks right in my left ear! The dealer says that he will order a replacement headrest but he doesn't think that will help. I know it won't fix it because when I swapped my passenger headrest over (Which is perfectly centered and doesn't rub), it has the same problem. The deal says that they really don't want to get into the frame of the seat because I might end up something else getting misaligned or messed up. He said that all he can really recommend is buying some leather conditioner to stop the leather creaks, and he wouldn't even give me bottle or apply just a little until the new headset came in (jerk). Anyway, anyone else experience this? I will try to post a picture later tonight.

unless you are a 5 feet talk small girl, the head rest should not be all the way down. it should behind your head, not your neck.

I had the same issue. I raised it about a half inch up and the noise went away. It was only on the passenger side. But it's a real annoying problem.

I had the same creaking in the leather between the headrest and seat....I put some Townsend Leather conditioner on the area causing the creaking..and it went away for about a week then returned as the conditioner soaked into the leather.......I re-applied the conditioner, and so far, it hasn't returned in over a month. Also...if you raise the headrest slightly, the creaking goes away anyway...but I don't like the "look" of the headrest unless it's all the way down. I know it should be up higher unless you're really short, but I just don't like the look seeing the metal rods showing.

I understand the value of head support, but because it kills visibility, I like mine all the way down as well. Visibility is a good thing.
