Headliner replacement didn't fix droop

After two attempts to fix my drooping headliner, my dealer replaced the entire thing. When I picked up the car it looked fine, but two days later it dropped just like the old one. I don't know what type of roof fasteners they used, but I would have thought that the replacement would use all the latest stuff. This shouldn't be that hard to get right. Any suggestions other than fix it myself?

Kidding, actually yes...

From my experience they likely failed to properly clean the metal bracket before installing the headliner so the adhesive on the fasteners isn't sticking properly.

I had one patch that wouldn't hold. I finally ended up cleaning the metal surface with 3M Wax and Tar Remover solvent - it's quite strong stuff - and applying a new 3M double stick tape patch to the fastener which fixed the problem and, so far, it's still holding after 9 months.

Sorry to hear about your problems. Since you joined the forum in Feb 04, your TL was probably made around the same time as mine. I fixed mine last May and have not had a problem since.

The details are in this thread. For about $3 worth of epoxy, you can fix this yourself and save the aggravation of going to the dealer and seeing the repair fail again.

I haven't had to refer to this for a long time so I thought most everyone had eliminated this problem. I hope this solves yours.

The velcro doesn't hold together

My headliner has droped down several times, however the velcro has never detached, as most others experience, and just separates the velcro itself. I've pushed it back together and it lasts a week or so before separating again. Interestingly, I has a 05 loaner and it had the exact same problem. the velcro was attached to the roof, it just wouldn't stick to the lower piece.
It's going back in on Monday for squeak and rattle issues, but the factory fix for the headliner won't help if the upper and lower velcro won't stay together.
