OEM HIDs are usually 4300K... the project lamp is what can make the color look different. Our TL projectors aren't as blue as some cars... even compared to the TSX... but I still like them. Reflector headlamps are usually more purple (i.e. 2nd Gen TL)... IMO.
FYI, lower Kelvins (i.e. Halogen) will give a more orange type of light... the higher you go you get whiter to almost a whitish blue... which is about 4300K... closer to natural light... when you hit the 6000K range you a bluer color finally maxing out at 8000K, which is almost a bright blue. when you get into the 9000K-10000K range, your light will look completely purple... Blacklight is 12000K.
Sorry if thats too much info, just thought you'd like to know...

Yup... thats what it should be... once the bulb reaches normal temp... Sometimes I wish it was much bluer... like when you first turn them on... an 8000K kit will give that intense blue... but 4300K will turn white, once it charges.

car mfg's are using bulbs with lower kelvin's, more closer to white for the HID's as they are getting crap from the Fed's (DOT), A report is due out in March/April on how to reduce glare from the HID lights, a few things are being talked about:
1. change the color from blue to more white / yellow color to reduce on comming driver's eyes from being pulled to them. - a study is being done on the draw of the blue.
2. Require self leveling function (something we do not have but is required in Europe)
3. Get rid of the sharp cut off point, and go more to a fuzzy one (this reduces the high beam look as a car goes over a bump and illuminates the opposing driver's face).
etc.
