Ok to everyone and anyone who is driving a 3rd Gen TL. We all know that when you lock or unlock your door from your keyless remote your headlight flashes. 1 flash for lock and 2 flash for unlock. Recently I notice that my headlights aren't flashing anymore, can some help. I thinking its some kind of fuse or module, but not sure.
Can anyone help on this matter.

 

my headlights never flashed. Only turn signals

 

Really, ever since I bought my from the dealer it always flashes when the lock/unlock bottom is pressed on the keyless remote. My is a 2008 Acura TL.

 

Check to see if your headlights are on. When they are on, you can "lock" it and they will turn off. Then when you "unlock" to enter, your lights will turn back on. Do you have an aftermarket alarm?

 

No aftermarket alarm, and headlight is always on Auto. I understand that when the headlight is set to the ON position, when unlock is pressed the headlights comes on completely and stays on for a few minutes before it auto locks again if the door is open in that time frame.
But when the headlight flashes when the lock/unlock bottom is pressed is a completely different matter versus setting the the headlight position to ON.

 

No factory alarm (From any car maker) will turn ur headlights on/off when locking or unlocking your car as a warning/etc indicator... it will either turn on your headlights when your unlocking the car and stay on not as a warning indicator or when you hit the panic/alarm button that'll activate the horn as well as headlight flashing...

I have an 08 TL-S and it never do what you are discribing only turn signals as indicators for lock/unlock.

 

The headlights on my 05 do not flash.

 

You could wire headlight flash with an aftermarket alarm... but doing so on a TL to flash the HID's is a horrible thing to do to your ballasts/bulbs. The only thing that "Flashes" for a TL when you unlock/lock are the parking lights. Turn your headlights on manually and see if all the marker lights are on. If not, you probably have a blown fuse. You can also just turn on the parking lights with one click from off.

 

Your headlights do not flash. Only the small bulbs behind the amber reflectors within the headlight housing will flash.

 

Do you have a remote start on the car? My brother when he got a remote start installed on his Envoy the place messed up the wiring and instead of his turn signals flashing (like ours do) his headlights flashed, if not also check if it looks like the wiring has been tampered with I don't know why they would but if you don't maybe the previous owner installed a remote start and then uninstalled it and never fixed the wiring.

 

This wouldn't even be good for the ballasts, as I understand.

 

Thanks everyone, I actually called the dealer and everyone is right. The last owner might have installed a alarm or something that is why when I bought the car the haedlights flashes when I unlock or lock from the keyless remote. What I don't understand is why now did it stop flashing? I had the car for about a year now.

What is that you have NavTool /with DVD Player?

 

Only my parking lights flash with both my '04 and my '05 TL's. You do NOT want your headlamps to flash every time you lock/unlock your car with these cars because they use HID lamps.
