Guys, how can I tell if a headlight belongs to a 2004-2005 or from a 2006+ model? What am I suppose to look to make sure that is from the oldest model? I know the ballast is smaller, but what else, part number, etc. Thanks.

 

Hmm i would think the only difference is the ballast. Everything else is pretty much the same. Someone will chime in and help ya out! That is difference for 04-05 to 06, but if you go to the 07-08 they will fit your 04-06 TL, but the turn signal bulbs are different. The fogs in 04-06 is different from 07-08 because they are used as drls and their fogs are relocated at the bottum of the bumper!

 

what do i need to make the 07-08 TURN signal bulbs.. work on my 04 harness

 

I THINK the cut off for the 06 changed from 05 as well
I THINK 06 used the step?

 

are 07-08 Type s headlights clearer than 04-06?? .... like people do ZKW lenses on 04-06... do 07-08 need them?

 

OK, I want to buy a headlight from a ebay seller, he's not able to tell me the headlight's year. I want to know if in addition to the ballast size, what other physical diff exists. Some number or code in the headlight. Thanks again.

 

07-08 headlights have 2-projector looking things (one for drl, which is not a projector) while the 04-06 have one projector looking thing.

also type-s headlights have clear diffusers with amber reflectors while all other headlights have amber diffusers. In addition the type-s heads appear to be more blacked ouy

And all headlights have stock fresnel lens... So in a way, yes, 07+ headlights "need" them


chinese headlights look like 04-06 headlights but are black with clear diffusers (think of it as a type-s and 04 mixed headlight)

 

Yes, there are clear differences between the 04-06 and the 06+, but between 04-05 and 06: the only visual difference is the ballast size?

The only difference between 04-05 and 06 is the ballast size. But the 06 headlights can be modded to accomodate the 04-05 ballast.
