DIYs belongs to the 3G Garage.

Though you didn't search hard enough.

And this is thread: click here

It is fairly easy, you have to take off the front bumper first than everything else is self-explanatory.

It's basically plug and play. All connectors are the same. Just like you said the only thing different that needs to be changed is the ballast.

the connectors are not the same like you said before. the day time bulbs are different than the ones for the 04 tl. Also, the ballast's plug of the right head light is a little bit different...

The Type S headlights take the 9005 bulb for the foglight IIRC. I don't see how the ballast plugs could be different though

07 type S lights uses drl (daytime running lights) where 04-06 use as fog lights so different connectors there. Then the turn signals are different, 07-08 uses round connectors 1157 bulbs and 04-06 uses 7443 bulbs and they are flat connectors.

The housing will be a direct fit but the signals you will have to mod a little to make it fit otherwise a slight bump can knock the signal bulbs out of place and you would have to take out the bumper again. Then try not to use the fogs if you are going to install type S lights, because fogs use a higher temp bulbs and WILL warp and melt your bezels.

As mentioned above post 04-05 ballast are bigger sized ballast compare to 06-08 where they use smaller ballast!

I just used LEDs in where the fogs are, no heat so it doesn't warp the lens. I also modded the factory 04 turn signal lamp and socket to fit into the 07 headlight and a little hot glue to hold in place. They have been in for over a year w/o any issues.
Good luck on the install, it's pretty straight forward.

^^ use a 9005 LED lamp and switch it with your factory fog switch...
