I'm trying to hardwire my passport 8500 and can't seem to get power to the darn detector. I am using an Add-A-Fuse and I have spliced the add a fuse directly to my radar wire. See pic below. The only thing I can think of for it not working is the add a fuse wire is red (positive), while my radar is black/red (positive/ground). I'm not that knowledgeable in electronics, but can you splice these wires even though the colors don't match?
The passport also has its own fuse as well as a grounding wire. Any ideas here? Sorry if the pics don't show. I am using imagestation. Thanks. NickPoore, you out there?
