The calendar can be used just to store the xm channel name/number when you have used up all the xm presets on xm1 and xm2.

Pick a date in the past (just to keep future dates free for other stuff), edit title and put in channel name/description and xm channel #. Now when you list the calendar, voila, you have a reference to channel numbers. Just say "XM select channel # (the channel number whatever) to jump straight from calendar to a channel on your list!!

Cool Huh. <grin>

Sounds like I clever idea. However, I'm not familiar with the calendar feature, & didn't know you can select dates in the past, guess I should learn more of it. Anyway, as for the channel presets, except for a few that I listen regularly, I can't remember which station is stored in which preset anyway (there're 30 for all bands), so I copy my preset info on a piece of paper. I keep it along with the XM channel listing within easy reach when I need them. Easy enough for me.

It would be nice iof the channel NAMES also showed up on the preset buttons...

Also how about 18 instead of 12 presets.. and a way on the steering wheel to do MODe but ONLY XM.. I hate having to stop for even a split second on any AM and FM station... because there is always a commercial playing!!

Has this been Mentioned?

I just noticed vague "blue courtsy lights" which emits a very faint light that "mildly" lights the cup holder area (only veiwable during the night time).

The lights are in the ceiling of the TL, in fornt of the sunroof, near the garage door remote bottons. Moved yout hands in that area and you should see it or you can just look-up and see them too.

I just noticed while using the Navi
that if you enter an address by using the "Intersection" location,
the NAVI will display 5 different routes and a button will appear on the top-right corner of the map that reads 1/5 <Next> so you can preview all different routes before selecting... The routes are displayed with in light blue lines.

my 99, and 00 TL Nav didn't have that feature!

Unless you are on perfectly flat road, if you have any kind of an incline, you can shift SS into 2nd at a stop, and let off the brake and it won't creep half the time, gives your foot a break sometimes.

I think it would display all five choices in front of you no matter what methods you're gonna input your address.

It can, you can choose to "show routes" or something like that, and it will go through all five and display in different colors. Often, it comes down to 1 or two distinct routes, as the different options don't always produce different answers. Note, whichever choice you make will be your default routing for all later routes until you change this.

Sherlock,
Pretty sure this will mess up your transmission. If you want to give your foot a rest, use the handbreak

You do not have to hold them both.

Just hold the Handsfree CANCEL button for 5 seconds and it will say Diagnostic mode on the MID and say twice, "The handsfree SYstem is operating normally".

I do not know what other commands or what else you can do in this mode.

If you put your seatbelt on prior to starting the car the reminder bell does not sound. All I hear is the passport chirp once to let me know it is time to roll.

There is neat handle inside the right hand side of the trunk to pull it closed. I guess it is so you don't get your hand dirty/wet or maybe mark up the paint. It works well with just a little tug.

This may not be a "new" feature but....

I was sitting at a red light listening to the demo DVD and turned my head 90 degrees to the left to watch some construction. I was astonished at the stereo effect between the back left and front left speakers. I know it's "supposed" to work that way but when you actually hear it, it's remarkable.

OK, I read this thread went out to my car to extend the sunshade (I have a 12 year old daughter to whom this is important) and I am at a loss to see how it extends. Is this a standard feature?

You just grasp the sunshade and pull toward the center.

Regarding my post of not "creeping" with the SS in 2nd, it's no different than sitting there in gear with your foot on the brake. The tranny has its free slip area from 0rpm up to the stall point of around 2500 rpm.. so sitting there not on the brake, and/or sitting there on the brake, is no diff to the tranny if you think about it logically. You just haven't reached the traction point of the transmission fluid and the torque convertor.

A couple things I have noticed in my car (not sure if it has been posted or not because of the long thread length).

1. The 2 storage areas in back of the shifter (storage and 12V plug cubbies)....if both areas are closed, there is a little bit of space there, so don't put your ID or CC or something like that in there or you will lose it under the console and it will have to be taken apart to get it back. My brother brought it to my attention.

2. The center arm rest will slide forward to fit your arm better. Only down side is you lose the second cup holder and you can't open the compartments with it slid forward.....but still a nice feature.

3. One thing I wish Acura had thought of is a way to suspend the MPG calculator when the car is warming up. If I start it on a cold morning and let it idle, it drops the avg MPG reading and the time keeps running. Just not the best indicator of city gas mileage, ya know? just throwin my 2 cents in on this one.

Great thread with alot of usefull info....keep it up. That whole sunshade thing was a mystery until this thread. LOL.

One other thing that just popped into my head for those of you that care. In the little storage area above the 12V adapter under the stereo, if you have excessive change in your car and the holder doesn't hold enough of it (as I do), I have found that if you put 2 Altoids tins in there lengthwise, they fit nicely, although it's not super easy to get out while driving, it is a useful storage option. Just thought I'd share.

If you haven't reached the traction point, then what's holding you on the hill? There is clearly some traction betweeen your axle, the transmission and the engine. Again. I've always been told that this practice is bad for your transmission. No one has ever said why.

When you get out of your car with the headlights on, hit the lock button on the fob twice and first the car will lock then the lights will go out. When you unlock the car the lights will come on.

And it is not in the manual.

Yeah, I just found out the other day my arm rest slid forward and back. Only took a year to find that one!

I believe the manual says there's an exception if you are going more than 100 miles, in which case it will not offer "Minimize Freeways." This appears to be correct to me because it greyed out that button one time when I was driving back from Atlantic City and I wanted to see if it would route me across US-40 or up the Atlantic City Expressway (it chose the latter).

Does anyone know if the lights (which you can manually turn on) near the Homelink buttons/moonroof will automatically turn off after a set amount of time? In other words, if you turn it on, then leave the car (which can autolock itself), will this light stay on indefinitely, or will it turn off after a while?

The lights will not go off if you manually turn them on.

If you leave your door ajar a little bit and the lights stay on for that reason, they will automatically turn off in about 5 minutes.

this might be commonplace but I just realized yesterday that if you press the number of the cd you are on it will pause the cd.

Does this work if you have the navigation screen (i.e.: press the cd on the screen) or only on the head unit buttons. I think the latter, I tried on my navi screen and it did not work.

Not sure if this has been posted, but I was reading the owner's manual recently and noticed the CD Scan feature.

1) Press momentarily the SCAN button while a CD is playing and it will play the first 10 sec. of each track.

2) Press and hold the SCAN button for 10 sec. and the scan will play 10sec. the first track of each CD. It will cycle through all of them and stop once it reaches the CD it was orginally playing.

Kinda useful for figuring out which CD is in the changer without ejecting or pressing all 6 buttons.

So how do you get the windows and sunroof to open from the remote?

I thought I read on here a few days ago that you can't do it, but I just did it yesterday by mistake. I was carrying a bunch of bags to my car and pressed a couple of buttons when trying to open my door, and the windows and roof opened up. But now I can't do it again!

Disc Eject without power

Not sure if this has been noted already.. Found out that you can actually eject the discs without having to turn the car on (without keys for that matter). -gh

one cool thing that i don't think anyone noticed, is that CD cases fit perfectly in the the storage compartment under the navigation, you can fit about 6 or 7 of those miniature jewel cases in there, which is a plus

At night you can hit the "MAX" button on the left side of the dash and all interior lights controlled by the brightness buttons will display at their highest settings including the NAVI which will turn from the dark backlight night-time setting to the bright backlight day-time setting. Touch it again and the lights and NAVI will return to the previous settings.

I like this feature rather than going into the options menu to change the NAVI settings. It's nice to see the map brighter at times.

Hey guys, I remember a few posts ago someone was talking about how if you press the unlock key of your pad twice and hold it down all of the windows roll down. I know someon was asking if there was a way to get them up. Anyone notice that if all your windows are down and you stick your key in the drivers side door and turn it to the left twice and hold it all the windows start going up.

Not sure if anyone else caught that. It took me awhile.

Anyone know if that stuff still works with a dealer installed alarm with remote start (Prestige)?

Or more importantly, programming keyless entry features?

Lightbulb XM Category mode & Radio Dial

When using XM radio in category mode and using the radio dial to change channels, you will stay within the selected category.

For example, in the Rock category you are changing the channels via the radio dial and you get to the last channel 54. If you continue changing the channel it will loop back to the beginning of the Rock category of channel 40.
