Has anyone heard of Llumar tint?

I'm looking to get my windows tinted and there's a place that will do it for $249 using Llumar tint. I've never hear of it, but they say it's as good if not better than 3M. Does anyone have their on this?

To get 3M there is another place that has it but they want $350. Ouch!

Llumar tint is good shit. I have in on my 2G TL and have had it on for a few years with no problems. Make sure they don't put any on the top ~5 inches of the back window, if you have a 99-03 TL. There is stuff up there (I think it is radio antenna) that the tint will not stick to good. It can go over the lines of the defroster, but not the top part.

I've used it in the last car I got tinted, a 93 Civic and it was very good, great protection, quality and never had a problem. At that time it had a lifetime warranty so in case anything happened to it they would replace it.

Llumar has been one of the more popular films around. Check their website for more info. They have several different formulations as well as various shades. Llumar is manufactured by CPFilms (makers of Formula One tint) also offers PPF

35% Llumar Platinum Plus all around here.

The Platinu Plus film is brilliant. Once applied it looks just like Lexus RX300 glass (kinda that greenishr mirror tint look).

No issues with Nav either.

I have it too, same platinum plus as the poster above: Defenitely recommend it!! Don't waste your money on 3M. Llumar is good! If you are going 35% make sure to get the rear glass-windshield done at 20% and the fours sides at 35%, it will look perfect!! TRUST ME!

Do you have pictures of this? I've been looking for a good luxury mirror tint.

If you guys are getting mirror tint, IMO, get a light mirror tint at around 35% all around. Don't go anything lower or else it looks really ricey. It's perfect when you can see very little (but a little visible still) yet has that shiney look too it. Also, if it's literally like a mirror (20%, 15%, or 5%), you're just asking to get pulled over by the police.

Yep, I wanted a 35% tint. A standard carbon film would look like a half assed tint. Hoping the mirror will look just right.

Thanks kennedy! You wouldnt have a wdp by any chance?

What is the reasoning behind getting the rear tinted 20%?

The only color they make in my mind ... with A-Spec too.
It's filthy though, you'll have to "look passed the dirt. To cold to wash last week.

OK, I tried to snap a few shots in the setting sun. The effect is barely noticeable without good overhead sunlight. You really need overhead light to get the "green" to come out.
This tint is PERFECT for WDP, it complements the cream white excellent.

Again, 35% Llumar Platinum Plus tint installed by Action Auto in Fredericksburg, VA
Excellent work there, and they do Llumar!

Ignore the dirt please, it's 30 dgrees outside, and I commute 80 miles a day along the I-95 saltway.

Well lets put it this way, the front windshield and rear big glass is what lets most of the light into the car. The passenger side windows let in only a little compared to these 2.

Now ideally having something like 26-27% tint all around would be the best because 35% in my opinion is just a little on the light side, especially if your interior is parchment. On a parchement interior or beige interior putting 35% all around will feel like you put no tints on at all, trust me. Now there is no tint that is 26-27% only 35% and then 20%. 35% is too light, and 20% is too dark.

To solve the problem we tint the rear big glass that is letting in most of the light a shade darker in this case 20%, than the rest of the 4 passenger windows and apply 35% to the passenger windows and boom you have now almost created a 26-27% all around effectively, and it will look very nice.

To further compliment it, I've tinted my windshield 55% which is very very light however given with the rest of the tints applied my car looks very even all around and I have no problems seeing outside at night time through any of my windows. Now this was done on a car with an ebony interior.

For a car with beige interior you have to go a little lower because the beige interior will literally make any tint appear much much lighter than it really is when compared to that of a car with an ebony interior. For a parchment or beige interior in my car I have done 15% on the back and 20% on all side windows and before you panic and say that is too dark, trust me it isn't!! It actually still looks lighter than my other car that has the 35/20 combo done, its all cuz of the interior.

Now if you are worried about if peopel will notice a mismatch between the rear glass and passenger side windows since one will be darker than the other, trust me you can NOT tell at ALL!! I myself was skeptical about doing this one shade darker routine and fearful the job would come out looking very bad and shade difference would be very noticeably but I was shocked to see the results.

I consider myself to be someone who is very meticulous with appearance so I scruitinize every angle.

I have an 05 Silver TL with black interior. I got Llumar put on my car and it looks freakin' awesome. I purposefully seeked out a llumar dealer here in Austin because in my opinion, llumar kicks the crap out of the competition. They not only do auto tint but they make tint for residential, commercial, etc. and it's a huge company.
In the summer (hot, Texas summer mind you) the heat difference is amazing. It rejects a LOT of heat and looks really tight too. I'd post pics but my car is at the dealer getting some warranty work done. I'll post pics if I get it back tomorrow.

Try to keep it so that you dont get pulled over or harassed by cops. Most tints are illegal but you can still get away with it as long as the cop can see the driver to some degree. Also base it on the interior you have, refer to my post above.

Now those of you who have the navi....did you use a non-metalic tint or a metalic tint? If you used metalic....did you notice a difference in your navi's performance?

According to my installer, if they can't get the tint to "stick" to the matrix on the top part, the installer is incompetent. It will look like sh*t if they don't tint the top part of the window... Then again, if they don't know what they are doing, and can't get it to stick, it'll also look like sh*t.

Needless to say, my installer got the whole window tinted no problem on all of my cars.

All my cars have metallic tint, and all my cars have Navi... No difference in signal strength whatsoever. If you think about it, the antenna for the Navi is in your dashboard. So unless you tint your front windshield, it won't matter.

(At least I know that's the antenna location in two of my 3 cars. But either way, the Navi in our TL works just fine)

That Llumar platinum plus is a metalized tint... but I've never had problems with the Navi.

I had two cars tinted with SolarGuard Metallic tints. Those are pretty good too. In fact my daily driver has them, and it's been about 8 or 9 years since I had them installed, and they still look good and defect free.
