has anyone done this mod to their side mirrors

Had a barbecue yesterday and my friend and I decided to put some of the side light omitting LED strips in my side view mirrors and use them as additional turning markers. I tapped them to the front turning blinkers.

only have one semi clear pic.
both mirrors have the same strip. With the exception of the passenger side view which I cracked when removing the mirror =(

I mounted the strips behind the glass since it has a white face to it. so when it flashes your actually seeing the reflection vs the actual led flashing.
I'll take better pic's later.
I'm actually considering buying some black faced led strips so I can mount one long strip on the bottom of the mirrors instead of what you see above.

Has potential. Amazing what LED technology has done for innovation.

Cheers to BBQ beer engineering. Keep up the good work and yes, please, some better pics!

Myself I don't think it does especially ;
a) if the leds are in behind and not seen
b) Only flash with signals.

correct. The LED's are inside the housing. You cant see them at all.

When they flash your basically seeing the reflection of it off the edge.

I know opinions will vary but, all that matters is that i like them.... and serves its purpose since i like taking road trips at night.

maybe if you outline the whole mirror with the LED? maybe that would look better. come to think of it, if it was a blue ish light, not too bright, surrounding the whole mirror insted of just one section, it would probably look nice.

Hmm, test if this doesnt create so much glare that you cant see objects in your mirror when its on

it shouldn't, esp. if it's blue, and low output.

I would like to see some close day time pics, as well as some better night time pics from a few distances.

Surrounding the entire mirror in a blue LED strip would look hella rice...it would also look like a neon billboard...might as well do the neons under the car while you're at it.

i think this could be a nice mod but it has to be executed properly. Keep going with the idea and make it work.

Cool idea try to mock it up better and get some better pics. One question though why would you use white LEDs instead of amber so that people behind you off to your side would know it's a signal light.

Btw it's your car do what you want to it don't let others discourage you at all. At the end of it all you paid for your car not them so why would you let them make the decision of what you do to your car.

I'll be ordering it later...

I truely hope that the bolded above was suppsoed to be in "red text"

I think it's a great idea if you can get good light output. And also, would look nice if you changed it so it would be amber (to match ur front turn signals/ front side-markers).

I'll take some day time pic's when I get home after work.

I removed the mirrors again just to see what it would look like with a horizontal line, which I didnt like. It's staying the way it is.

Ohh and I broke the drivers side mirror now.....This glass is to thin or im just to strong. lol

I share the same concern as a member mentioned. I do hope its bright enough in day light as it is at night.
