Harsh Downshift From 3RD Gear to 2ND Only

Hi guys do you any of you have any experience with an 05 TL down shifting harshly from 3rd to 2nd?

It does it when your cruising to a stop slowly. It feels like as if you're puttinf more pressure on the brake pedal.

It only does it from 3rd to 2nd.
I haven't changed the switches yet I am pretty sure that's what it's causing it but wanted to see if anyone had the same experience. Oh also I'm thinking it's the switches because switching to 3rd gear takes longer than others.

My moms 2006 odyssey does the same harsh downshift when slowly coming to a stop.

Do the pressure switches. I need to do mine for exactly this reason, harsh downshift to 2 when cold. Waiting on summer to do it.

Bought in July 2014 at 85K, now at 93K. Expecting 105K service to pop up before winter next year.

This is the first time you're changing the switches?

Guys what kind of ATF would you recommend with such high mileage? F type or D4/D6?

Harsh downshift as in it shudders when you're slowing down, or does it feel like it's engine braking?

The car intentionally downshifts to a lower gear while coasting to a stop sign or stop light around 25 mph. When it does this, it feels like a harsh jerk if your not used to it making you think it's transmission problems.

It's called engine braking.

There are times where I am coasting to a stop light at 25 mph and the car decides to downshift and I just so happen to give it gas the same time. Talk about a surprise! The car jerks super hard because of 1. the downshift 2. I gave it throttle in 2nd gear so it will kinda pull you back into the seat.

173K? is that the original tranny?

I also would be cautious with changing the fluid to a more aggresive one if your tranny fluid has never been changed or if its black...IMO

It's definitely different but I can see some people confusing both. I know in my case the jerk is not intended as it's not always there and it's definitely more of a judder than a "braking" feel as in downshifting gears.

I spoke to a mechanic about the shudder and other issues; He brought up the solenoid being one of the major factors. I'm about to go through the painful process of getting my warrantied rebulit tranny fixed this week due to the shudder and harsh shifts. If anything comes up I'll post it here for additional info.
