Hard times ahead...
This economy is going to shit and well I'm one of the unlucky ones. I might have to say goodbye to my TL-S KBP. I am losing my second job (yeah I have two full-time jobs). My wife is a stay at home mom and is pregnant with our second child. Working on an average of 60-80 hours per week, we are still falling behind our bills. Gas prices being lowered came too late, we recently moved and the previous property management filed for bankruptcy and didn't return our $1k deposit. This Wednesday will be my last extra paycheck. Most likely I will have to voluntarily surrender my TL-S and part ways. I never got a chance to MOD the car; it was a dream from the beginning. My wife leases a 2008 RX350, I made a promise to her that we would keep the SUV since it’s our family car, I can't see us driving around in a TL with two kids, and I know you can but it seems to make more sense to keep the other car.
I love seeing daily how you guys help each other in this forum, I'm sad that I will leave and never get to be a part of this community. If I lose my car I don't know if I could come back to this forum as it will sadden me more and more than I already am.

Best of luck on getting a new position quickly.
Family is more important than a replaceable depreciating item.
But you don't have to leave-- you can visit Car Talk and Ramblings in the Off Topic section here-- most members there no longer even have Acuras!

I know exactly what your going thru, I wish yo the best of luck. Just remember to keep your head up and don't feel any different because you have to surrender your car. I always think when one door closes on you its cause another one with something better will open for you. GL.

Thanks guys...
Thanks for the nice comments guys...
I'm a Senior Web UI Designer. For my second job I was the lead Web Designer for a media company, I've been with them for over 9 months. They took it personal when I told them I couldn't jump on full-time in their office and telecommute was my only option since I already have a daytime job; it was never a problem in the past. I guess they took it personal and decided to find someone else.
One of the VP's is old fashioned and likes to see you physically working on the computer. How is some "marketing" guy supposed to know what am I doing when I'm deep into Photoshop designing then putting it all together and coding like crazy. I could be typing ipsum for all he knows!
My family is the most important to me. My son is 2 years old and I play with him every chance I get. Bonding with him is so important to me. I never had a father when I grew up and never met him, I don't want that for my son. After my son and my wife would go to bed, sometimes I would stay up 2-3am to code/design for projects for my second job. I would then get up around 6-7am and go to my regular full-time job. I've always been fortunuate with the gift god gave me, unfortunately some people will enver understand how hard I really work. I keep a lot to myself.
We as a family have gone through much these past few years, we don't need to lose our home too. When you lose everything you feel like you aren't a man anymore, how do you regain feeling back? Even though my wife would NEVER feel that way about me, it hard for me to see it as anything else.

Your heart's in the right place. Just make sure you're not caught trying to keep up with the Jones', as they say. It's amazing that it's estimated that 2/3 of us are living on credit card debts. The most important thing is keeping that roof over your head. Cars come and go. They can be replaced. Live within your means, especially since you've got kids and you may need to look at saving up for their college, etc...
I don't lease cars because leasing just flat out doesn't make sense unless you've got your own corporation and can write that crap off completely. My previous car I owned since 1993 and drove it for over 225k miles until I sold it last year. I sure as hell wanted to upgrade sooner but the numbers didn't add up and I refuse to live paycheck to paycheck.
In the end, it's all going to be alright. It'll be rough for a few more years. Keep your head up and take care of your needs and minimize your wants.

Sorry to hear of your misfortune. Keep your head up and keep doing the right things and you will come out on top.
This country is definately on the wrong track. People are trying to keep up with the Jones', buying large homes, living beyond their means, maintaining unsustainable lifestyles. Money rules. We have moved from a country founded on the principles "of the people, by the people and for the people" to a country where big business now has more rights than the people. Just look at how big oil, big insurance and the pharmaceutical special interests have had their way with us.
Your boss should have let you telecommute. It's smart, it's sustainable in that it saves energy and the environment while allowing you to work, be productive and maximize your time with your family which is ultimately what it's all about.
Hopefully enough people will come to their senses, stand up for their rights and initiate change.

I am glad that you are doing whatever that is best for the family. My wife is a stay at home mom too and if it is necessary to give up my KBP TLS in order to support the family, I will definitely do it. Sorry to hear that you will have to part with the TL family, but you will always be welcome here. Best of luck!

Good luck on finding the replacement job quickly!
Regarding you leasing premium cars when your income does not allow it, don't do it. Simple. Yes, I lease, but for me it's a write off, and I don't feel the payments. Do not re-lease anything, stick to the RX350, I'm assuming your lease is around 400-500 a month on it.
I see to many of such cases rising due to the economy of where people are digging a bigger debt hole.... Be frugal for the next few years, the idea is to work less and live a happy live, not 80 hours a week to barely make it. By the way this is not aimed at you, I'm just ranting in general.

Keep your head up and don't listen to some of these people who state the obvious.
Like MANY of us, the draw to all this cool stuff has pushed us in various ways and levels.
You are doing the right thing and focusing on what's really important.
Good Luck to you.

Thanks guys, yeah I didn't go and buy/lease cars, home credit cards beyond my means, we lived more than confortable with the arrangement we had. Losing this extra job is like my wife losing her job. I got that second job so she could stay home. Unless you make a lot of money, most households have both the husband and wife working full-time to even afford the basics. This situation is tricky, its not like I can get unemployment, and finding this type of job is really hard. The fact is, I can make the car payment, insurance and gas but that leaves nothing left over for my family to share. So in the end I would sacrafice myself and my needs for my family anyday. I know how credit works, I've worked on cleaning my friends credit to get them back on track. This is just a serious blow. Even if and when I can afford to buy another car, I won't be able to. It's like hitting the reset switch on your life, and in this world unless you have 35k cash lying around you have to finance, even with enough money down banks (especially now) will not even let you say hello. This will remain over my head for 7 years and will haunt me every time I try to make a purchase.
I hate that feeling.
I hate that feeling.

Some people refuse to see the obvious and that's when they get themselves in trouble. And Nexus isn't one of those as he recognized the red flags popping up around him and he's taking action to better his situation, by letting his TL go. That's why we're all cheering for him.
To Nexus, well, at least in 7 years, you'll be able to dodge the ugly 4G TL and the 5G should be out by then. I say things are looking up for you. As to my comment (and I'm sure a few others) regarding "don't try to keep up w/ the Jones'," this was no way implying you are/were. And it's a general reminder to all of us that things aren't good and we should plan for tougher times ahead.

Things are just that, things man. They come and go and when times get better again (which they WILL, despite what the worthless media fools people into thinking), you'll get new fun toys again. Downsizing your life doesn't make you less of a man so don't feel that way, it makes you a smart one!

It's takes a good man to give up his love for his TL for the love of his family. Hope you find a replacement job soon. Good luck and God bless.
I'm actually looking for a 2nd job myself since my current job has cut out overtime.

God is amazing...
Thanks for your support guys, it's really nice to read the positive feedback I've been receiving!
Well...I've only been with this reputable Automotive company for 4 months as Senior Product Architect. Today I check my bank account and received my direct deposit for my paycheck and a prorated bonus check (3 months worth) for $2,500. It would have been 10k+ if I was there for 1 year. I just caught up my Acura payments and I won't be due again until December 1st, that gives me sometime to find another second job.
To top that off, I just received an email from AT&T U-Verse that they mailed me $300 rebate check for switching to them and ditching Comcast and I received my bill for $0. I got first month completely free.
God works in mysterious ways.
