Happytobe a 2005 TL owner!

Hi all,
I just purchased a 2005 TL, gray?, with 60,000 miles, one owner, dealer maintained, clean car fax report, excellent condition, all stock...and so far I love it
I traded in a 2004 Audi A6 and I have to say this car is much more fun to drive. Although I do need to get used to front wheel drive as opposed to the all wheel drive on the Audi.

Going to do a timing belt change, K&N CAI, and I would like to get the windows tinted (any suggestions as to where? I live in the Bay Area, Benicia), also thinking of getting the Neuspeed Super Cup Kit

Any heads up or advice about this car are greatly appreciated

Welcome! Congrats on the new ride.

Got any pictures?

I would advise against the K&N. http://home.roadrunner.com/~jbplock/ISO5011/SPICER.htm
If you want a cool sound, the popular thing around here is the AEM V2. You can also just delete the stock resonator.

If it is an automatic, you might also consider replacing the 3rd & 4th gear pressure switches as a preventative measure. https://acurazine.com/forums/3g-tl-2004-2008-93/110-diy-guide-replacing-3rd-4th-gear-pressure-switch-3g-tl-2004-2006-a-729149/

any particular reason why you are getting a new timing belt with such low mileage?

btw welcome to the forum and congrats on the purchase!

in 2004, Acura changed their wording.
it now says; 105k miles or when the MID flashes a 4 at you.

I have a 2006 with 60k miles and do not plan on changing the timing belt until 105k miles.
which will be 10 years from now; the way ive been accumulating miles.

^i thought the timing belt wear was more dictated by time, instead of mileage. I could be wrong though

Now that I see this Im thinking twice about changing the timing belt.

I'm still figuring out how to post images on the forums. I don't believe I have access yet though.

the 2nd gen TL's, in the manual/owners handbook it says both, time and mileage.
but in our handbook/owners manual they take out the time part.

so basically, we're confused.

Rubber tends to rot/breakdown over time, especially components in the engine, exposed to high heat and other contaminants.

At 10 years, I would replace it.
