Hands free link area

Hello I’m brand new to acurazine, I have a 2007 TL Type S, been having my battery light appear and disappear time to time and read that sometimes it can be the hands free link, I don’t need it so I just unplugged but also noticed there’s something else next to it and wondered if anyone knew what is and what it is used for, hopefully the photo I took of it is posted with this message, thanks(:

Note....the HFL will not cause intermittent battery lights. The power drain from a failed HFL is not an issue for a healthy charging system when the vehicle is running. It will generally only cause issues overnight...or maybe after a few days when it may finally drain the battery too far to successfully start the car.

What does the noise cancellation do?

Is there a specific noise it is supposed to cancel?

And why is it only on the type S model?

Noise cancellation tries to cancel the noise (hah). Mostly outside / road noise.

https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Active_noise_control

It's only in type-s because Acura felt like adding this feature only to upper trim level. Basically every car manufacturer does that where certain features are available on certain trims.

Noise cancelation does exactly what the guy above me described. Its was exclusive to the 2nd gen RL and later find it way through the TL and MDX eventually all Acura as standard, back in 2005 this was an advance feature only found on high luxury cars but for today is a standard for luxury entry level cars.
