He got out of here because as the knowledge level on the site grew, people began asking very simple questions, information that most manufacturers supply already such as box volume and tuning frequency. He refused to provide information and insisted each box was made for a specific sub even when you could see and it was later tested that they were on the small side for the particular sub in question. You just don't sell enclosures without giving the size and tuning frequency if ported. It's like buying a car and the salesman won't tell you which engine option it has, but he knows what you need and don't worry, you don't need to know.
There's nothing more important for sub sound quality and output than the subwoofer enclosure. If it's a too small sealed box you end up with a power hungry sub that won't get low without a lot of power and it will sound slow and boomy since smaller REDUCES cone control and efficiency. If it's ported and tuned too high it will sound slow and boomy but it will be loud. If it's in a large sealed the only downside is the space it takes up. It requires less power, gets low and it will by punchy and quick. A low tuned ported will sound quicker and have better sound quality but you lose some efficiency, it won't get as loud for a given power.
You can see how important knowing tuning frequency and box volume is. The enclosures might be good enough to not have a bunch of complaints but it's definitely a compromise in sound quality for more trunk space. The people buying should be able to make that decision, sound quality vs size or at least know what they're getting especially being that expensive, the most expensive box of its type I've seen.
He made several comments showing he doesn't know as much about subwoofers as he lets on such as smaller subs being "quicker" and more punchy than large subs which is a myth I wish would die. I honestly don't think he knew the answers to the tuning frequency and volume questions, maybe because the manufacturer doesn't provide them to him, I don't know. I do know as the seller of the boxes, it's not hard to determine tuning frequency and measure volume which IMO would have sold more product. I would have just said I don't know rather than acting as if he knows what you need better than you do.
I didn't say a whole lot before because he was a paying vendor plus I didn't want to hurt his sales, I just wanted him to provide basic information. Now that he's off of here as a vendor I might as well tell the truth.
There is at least one other corner box for the 3G TL out there and they look to be larger and considerably cheaper which is great. If I remember right the carpet doesn't match as well.
