Hail Damage

So parts of Long Island NY got hit with a hail storm last night. I am unfortunately one of the unlucky ones already. I have a huge crack on the windshield that needs replacement, dents all over my hood, roof, trunk, and some on the fender. Hopefully the body shop can restore and match the paint. I have a WDP so I'm a bit nervous. let see some of your damages...here's mine.

We had a hail storm in Dallas couple of months back (tennis ball size hail). Luckily my TLS was in garage, but my wifes Accord got beat up really bad.

A local Paintless Dent Repair company fixed it in about a week. The car looks normal and they charged my auto insurance about $4500 for repair.

Good luck.

when you post an image make sure you use the image tags like so...

["img"] http://www.yourimage.com[/img]

ignore the " marks had to put those to show the tags.

Damn bro, feel bad for you. Why don't you check out pdr and get an estimate first. A lot easier than going through all that bodywork and paintwork.

Looks like you lucked out compared to mine. I was in New Hyde Park at the worst time.
There's a thread on this in the NY/NJ section already.

Most of those dents seem fairly shallow and without creases so PDR should be able to get them out. The faster you remove dents like those the better the outcome is with PDR. My suggestion for you is to go to a PDR guy and get an estimate, call up your insurance company with it and tell them the faster it's done the better the results.

You might try this and do the dent removal yourself:

I'm willing to try it but will the sudden temperature change ruin the paint? I don't want to cause more harm than good.

I highly recommend finding a good Paintless Dent Repair shop. Definitely the better route than doing a bunch of body work/paint work.

Hail damage can be a hit or a miss in terms of removal. Your damage doesn't look to bad so you should be fairly easy to remove

I don't think it would harm the paint. Perhaps try it in one spot and see how it goes.

The funny thing is when it happened, we also used my fiancee's car and she was like "omg its hailing!" and I said "F***...my car is dead!!!"

It's all good, his TL's unlucky day will come...and my gf/fiancee was snugging with me when she found out. Ahhhhh the joys of not being single.

yupz, going to try it later on today. already got a can ready. Thanks for the video help.

In addition, I just saw damages on the black outside B pillars on both side. Hope it's not too hard to repair that.

OP, that really sucks! but just so you know PDR aint cheap so hopefully your insurance cover it for you!
I live in Eastern MA and have had some pretty close call on hails as well, but luckily they died out and never able reach where I live.
I guess a nice car truly need a garage. Or try to reserve energy or start recyclying and the weather might be nice to you next time LOL

i was in long island when the hail hit and my car had plenty of damage. i was lucky that i saw a gas station to hide in until the storm passed but the damage was already done. i have about 7 big dent in the roof, about 2 in the hood, 3 on the side, 2 in trunk. My car is black and it looks pretty bad.

unlike most of you i cannot afford full coverage cause i live in the bronx and insurance is pretty high in my area. i can only afford liability which doesn't cover any of this. how much is full coverage that i cannot afford it? how does $4k every 6 month sounds to you? yeap... that's right, so please bless your insurance that you can get it so cheap in other area in NY and states.

I will repaint my car tomorrow. ROOF, HOOD, FRONT BUMBER FOR $700 in a nice body shop here in the island, this money is coming out of my packet . what can i do, i have no other choice.

i find repainting easier than to deal with dent removable shop for the roof and hood since the damage in the roof is to much and the hood with the bumper was going to be repainted either way (i have to many rock chips damage). Now is the perfect time to get it over with.

thats not too bad dude....

to honest even if you had insurance you would have had to pay your deductible which is like ~$500 (usually)....so 700 is not bad at all....at the same time this wont go on the carfax....so come to think about it, win win situation for you....
