Grrrrr ....

04TL ownership @ 1 week.

Already nicked the rear rim while making a right-hand turn. I was thinking of getting new chrome rims, but I don't think so now if the car hits curbs this easily.

Yesterday was a bad day.

I've nicked a rim too, in a car wash. Next time I get tires I'm moving to 245/45 just to get the tires out beyond the rims.

żGotJazz? & svtmike,

Do a search on wheel repair or go to:

http://www.acura-tl.com/forums/show...&threadid=67376

Apparently with the wheels being painted it is possible to have an invisible repair with the TL wheels. That said, it still is poor that the tires aren't wide enough to protect the wheels.

The tires have much more serious problems then not being wide enough

Nicki,

My tires are Michelin Pilot Sport A/S, not EL42s. They are the stock 235 width though.

The ding on my wheel occurred before I got the Michelins, though from appearances I don't think the Michelins provide much more rim protection than the BS's did.

I've been trying to find a place that will come on site to do the wheel repair around me, rather than having to ship the wheel back/forth.

I think we may need to come up with a sticky list of wheel repair places!

Maybe I'm not understanding just what the problems you guys are having. If you don't scrape the wheels on anything, you shouldn't get nicks in them. Am I missing something here? I have had my car about 4 months now with no problems. I am also careful not to scrape the sides of my car against ANYTHING, because this WILL cause damage.

decky243 - I hit something (I don't know what) when making a right turn. I heard a loud "thump" from the right rear. There weren't any tire scuffs, just a few nicks on the rim. I'm guessing I hit the curb, and the curb didn't have any paint on it.

My rim got nicked in a car wash with a mechanism to guide the wheel. The tires were low profile enough to put the rim in contact with the guide rails, and the rim sits proud of the tires, so the first thing that makes contact is the aluminum of the wheel rather than the rubber of the tires.

I got scratched while trying to park far right and way close to the curb to avoid the potential dings on the driver side.

decky243- " it happens"

żGotJazz? & svtmike,
Too bad the photo gallery section is currently unavailable, otherwise you could view some nice repairs that were done. I am not sure, but I think you just bring your car into the body repair place (heck, my car wash has a paint repair guy on site who does small stuff like this) and they fix it and you have your car back in a day or two.
