Grille Question
Hey guys. I'm a new member and just bought an '04 Acura TL a month ago. I was wondering if anyone has done this modification in the picture (not sure if this is anyone's TL from the forum, just found the pic on google). I would like to do the same, but was wondering if all I would have to do is remove the ====(A)==== piece or if any other modifications have to be done. Thanks for the help, I'm loving this forum!!!
It think thats accuratien's TL before some serious mods, but I think he had to cut out the entire bar that the A sits on and bondo the bumper to cover up the two holes from the bar.
Grille mod
I've done it. I haven't found the best grille material yet, but hopefully the stuff I ordered last night will do the job. http://www.customcargrilles.com
That hole is comprised of 3 or 4 pieces. I took the whole front bumper off...pretty easy and the directions are in the forums here somewhere.
once you get it it off, there are a few screws for the grille, a few for the acura symbol and then the nice metal cross piece. After that, you're left with a molded bar that needs to be cut out. Once you've made the cuts, you either plastic up the rest with duramix or bondo. I just paid someone so I hope he used the duramix.

Another person has done the grille mod, welcome to the club zealot.

There's just a few of us who have done the mod because it is NOT easy or fun. There is no metal there to cut it's all plastic. Good luck on finding a shop to do it for you. They don't like to do custom jobs like this. They' rather do the standard fare of collision repair. They have to spend extra time on doing something they are not familiar with and then they'd have to warranty the job and be liable.
You have to find a shop that loves to do custom work because they enjoy it. Even if you could convince them they will definitely overcharge you to do it to make it worthwhile for them. DIY will cost you under $50 in materials. I did mine with powdercoated mesh and carbon fiber.
It is a WELL worth mod. I know not everyone likes it but I think the car looks 1000X better and much more aggressive. I am glad I did it and I wish you luck. DO IT!
