Grille Mod indecision, help appreciated

i was think today that there needs to be something done with my grille. i followed my dad to the body shop because he was getting a lot of work done to his car. i asked the dealer how much would it cost for them to make me a mesh grille with taking out the middle "A" bar on the grille: his answer was around $600?! theres no way im going to drop that much money... i was either thinking of painting the whole thing black or buying a kit like this:

http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/Acura...#ht_4306wt_939

my question would then be, if i bought that ebay grille, would it be hard to install. im guessing you just cut off the middle "A" strip and it somehow lays over it? its got me confused if anyone wants to help. it looks like a great ebay product.... but who knows

Theres a diy somewhere on the floating "A" mod that, if your willing to do some cutting seems like it would be doing basically the same as the ebay grill but less money.

i have seen people who did that, on some there are ares where there original bar messes up with look of it and there are two holes in the side. what im talking about is on gwai10 post picture son the next page.

you could see where the holes remained. i dont really have that much experience in fiberglassing bonding it over...

yea i agree that looks bad, messing with fiberglass and body filler really isn't that hard, I played with a whole lot of it when i was restoring my dads '73 roadrunner. the trick is to just add a lot and spend a lot of time sanding it down. but if you don't really want to mess with that, go for the ebay grille. im sure it will look good but it still will probably not be easy to install.

Deathmetal beat me to the link.....

It isn't that hard to do but plan on a day and commit to it. A lot of work but it cost me around 100 bucks! Good luck.

mmade22, your grille does look great. i just dont have that much exeriance bondoing and shaping plastic. i was also just thinking about painting them black instead of taking the hassel to wrap each piece in vinyl.i wish there was someone like you that could give me a hand in orlando .

im guessing for the ebay grille you cut off the "A" bar and just lay the molding on top of it?

mmade, I am assuming you used rattle-can paint for the black...how is it holding up?

Here is mine, color matched silver trim and blacked out center bar......

Just a little food for thought.

JMiller...A little off topic but I ordered those TSW vortex wheels and when the came in, they didn't clear the Brembos. Good looking rim but it just wouldn't work without a spacer. Got any more picture of the car or a link?

What were the specs on the ones you ordered? Mine are 18x8 +40 all the way around.

Couple more pics....

My car is an AT, but there seems to be plenty of room back there for the Brembos. I'm actually going to get some 10mm spaces to push them out a little bit.

Are those pontiac Rims? They look like pontiac rims to me. Not that they look bad, but for some reason i think of pontiac.

No. They're TSW Vortexes.

5mm spacer would have cleared them maybe but I wanted no part of that.. Brembos are bigger than you think...Same specs as yours, just a no go. Got the most wanted A-spec gunmetals with the 8.5 wide...Glad I went with them.
