Grille Guys: ESPECIALLY in NYC area
I want to paint my grille NBP to match the body. I went to a shop and they turned me away saying the paint could peel off the plastic pieces?? I think they just didn't want to take on this kind of job because they're a busy shop. Comments?
PS - I NEED A GOOD SHOP! Please let me know what's up guys in NY. Closest to Orange county as possible.

chipping i can understand...even the factory paint chips when pebbles hit it. PEELING is a completely different issue...that's just a bad paint job.
is there anything to protect our grilles?

I had mine color matched when I needed to get my finder fixed. That was back in December and the paint has started to peel. The shop did not sand the grill. They just painted over the crome. Last week I ordered a spray can to match my paint. I had already planed on color matching my headlights, so now I'm just going to sand the grill and paint it again. I'm thinking with a little more prep work the paint will last longer.

The grille is the *1* thing I don't like about my TL. Its too much contrast on the front of the car with a black TL. I wish they had a dark anthracite gille or something that I could install. FWIW the normal issue with paint coming of plastic bit is because they flex. However I don't see the grille flexing much. Probably just bad prep on their part.

I was gonna paint my grill but decided to paint the piece under the Acura emblem and the greyish part that goes around the chrome piece on the grill. It make a ton of a difference and I wont have to worry bout it pealing or anything. I took it to the acura body shop to paint to get an exact color match. Cost me about 60 bucks
