A GREAT use for the cassette deck in our TL's
Guys, this great product will make our obsolete cassette deck useful again!
Check it out! We can use it to play MP3's right through the cassette deck!
Amazing, and it holds up to 2 GB's of songs, can be taken out and used as a stand alone player, charges through the USB port, has a 450 mAh battery and can also be used in our walkmans too...hahaha....now that stupid hole has a use in our center console!!! Now we just have to wait till it comes out and over here....

A great option for the older TL's (2006 and below that do not have MP3 capability)
I also think this is a great gadget that makes lets you have MP3's without altering the stock stereo...
I just wish it would come out so we can do a review on it

I guess one way to make the useless tap deck a bit useful is getting that SD card/tape shapped reader.... what I'm wondering is how do you scroll through the content of the SD or do you have to listen from song #1 to the last one sequentially? if this is the case, you better pray that the songs are put in in the right order cuz 2GB is a lot of songs... remember in the old days, each tape holds about ~60 minutes of songs (approx. 17 tracks).... plus, I'm sure the id3 tag won't display on the navi screen since tape doesn't have that capability....

I mean that thing just sit there add weight and collect dust.... and i guess this gadget can be a tape with 1000+ songs that's permently embeded with the tape deck and become part of the HU
oh, and I almost forgot.... direction change on the tape cassett.... I guess in this case, it'll play the music backward..... LOL, jk or make it go faster and sounds like a chipmonk

GUYS, if this is cheap and works well, it is a simple plug and play solution!!
No need to rip apart anything....I just thought it was a good way to make use of a factory installed feature that probably nobody ever uses....
I am guessing that when we press fast forward or rewind ...it skips to the next song...Pressing auto reverse might switch to the next folder and most likely dolby noise would do nothing...hahaha...
keep in mind that this gadget seems to have no tape so therefore there would be no tape hiss....the sound quality should be better then a real cassette tape and mabey better then an FM transmitter!!!

I actually used the cassette player for my music. By the way, I just downloaded my first songs ever (for my wife's mp3 player) this evening, but have yet to buy a music CD for myself. Maybe I'll download some more music, burn it to CDs and play them in the car... Nyah, that means I would be leaving the 1980's and entering the 21st century...
Love the XM, though-- no commercials, messy wires, discs or cassettes to fiddle with while driving.

I don't know about the rest of you - but I love having a tape deck! Without it, I couldn't play my old Go-Go tapes!!!!!

well, I'm an odd ball what can I say LOL.... but for normal ppl they might have to take it in to have it done and it cost money I guess the person that started this thread is just trying to make the useless space useful without having to crack open anything... in my case, if I can find the schematic of the HU, I'll see if I can fit something else in there and make it useful and I'm still waiting for that freaking navi drive to make the type S HU work

But is seems that yours has more features, like a remote control and replaceble battery.
Man this unit with a 4 GB SD CARD...sweet use for the outdated cassette deck!

I did wonder why they had kept the tape deck on my 04 tl and the only thing I was ever told was that its for books on tape. Anyways I was pissed that I could not play mp3's in the car at first but since the car can play dvd-a I knew I would find a way and sure enough I did. A normal cd mp3 can hold 170 songs or so but by burning a DL dvd-a disc you can get about 220 songs per disc and they sound good without all the wires. The only thing that sucks is that the mp3 ID tags dont work through the system so all you get are numbers just like if you insert a normal cd.
Best of luck

Why not get a bluetooth cassette adapter?

Thats cool but i never liked the idea or using the tape player in the first place, it just seems so 80's you know. That would also keep you from using the steering wheel controls for skipping the songs I would think.
I like the idea but I dont feel it would be my idea of choice. The dealer can add an aux port for you for some insane price but I never went with that either.
I am glad that acura decided to allow the newer tl's to play mp3's but I wonder if the system will allow you to play dvd mp3 discs. That would allow for a massive amount of music on one disc.
Peace

The '07 doesn't allow for mp3 playback from dvds, sadly.
It also doesn't have the Compact Flash card reader built in like the Civic Si does.
And if you ask me, the UI on the Nav-LCD is painfully slow.

But anyways... You can fit 99 songs onto a DVD-A disc. They are pretty easy to make... Our TL can't play MP3s, but all I play in it are DVD-A discs... I have about 90 songs on each disc, so with 6 DVDs, that's still a lot of music.

For $20 I would get it for kicks. For $100 something, I rather get an iPod nano. The bluetooth cassette is pretty cool and will get popular once more portable devices support A2DP.
