Great forum

Hey guys,

I haven't quite made my 5 post minimum yet so I'm trying to fulfill that with this thread. I don't have much to say except thank you to several members here that have done an excellent job writing DIY's and the other members who aren't afraid to ask questions.

My quick story - I have been a big fan of Honda products since I got my license. I had a 92 Accord LX, then a 98 Accord LX, a 04 Accord V6mt, an 01 S2000, and finally an 05 TL mt.

You can view them here on the site:
S2000

Accord (sold)

I bought the TL wholesale at about 100K miles. As anyone can imagine, it came with its fair share of problems and maintenance items, but thanks to this forum all of them are now fixed. It has been a long process.

Short version - EBrake was broken, Several interior lights were blown, rear brake pads were gone, rear passenger caliper wasn't working, timing belt was due (not a problem), AC did not work, 3rd gear popped out

more to come...

Details (long version)

So I bought the car back in Feb this year. The car was for most part in mint condition. Its tough to tell because of all the salt and snow, but the interior was nice, and there weren't any dents. I'll post the dealers pictures at some point.

Coming from the V6MT Accord, the driving experience was noticeably different; the clutch and handling characteristics were much different, so if there was a problem I couldn't tell.

The 3rd gear thing I figured was a problem. The day after I noticed a clicking when turning, and that the E-Brake wouldn't engage enough to stop the car. I brought it back, and they "adjusted" it, but it still didn't hold the car on a hill unless it was in gear. I figured no big deal.

When nicer weather came, i did a thorough look over the entire car and my "journey" began.

So; a bunch o time and money later:

-The rear pads were replaced because there weren't any. The dealer threw a sticker on it even though they were not within passing spec.

-I fixed the e-brake by placing the adjusting pin back to where it belonged; the 'mechanic' "adjusted" it, but failed to inform me that the rear pads were bad, and that the adjusting pin was not adjusting

-The rear caliper was near frozen, thankfully I caught it in time, and the caliper was still good, just needed an overhaul

-A month later the timing belt minder came on, and a couple weeks after that i followed the DIY here. Great write up by the way, and many thanks. I also did the sparks, coolant, and oil along with the timing belt. The car was on stands for at least 3 days.

-A few days after the transmission fluid was replaced with GM Synchromesh (FM) and no more 3rd gear pop.

-During the last 95 degree day, the AC failed. After much research and troubleshooting, I determined it was the stator, so that was replaced, and now I can drive it in the heat without a problem.

Some fun stuff; I got new 18s TSW Nogaro's on it with Toyo Proxes (Craigslist deal), and also 17" OEM's with new studded winters. All of the "easy to get to" lights were replaced with LED's.

I did the accord sedan fog light mod, added switched interior ambient lights, and a trunk tray.

The trunk has a bit of a paint issue due to neglect, but its not horrible.

The car, IMO, is finally at 100% thanks to this forum. So thanks Azine, and thanks for reading my long winded story.

Sorry to those who don't give an sh*t.

Pictures eventually will follow.

I had an '07 Accord V6 up until a couple of weeks ago when I bought my TL. It was a great car and I actually miss it. I know what you mean about Honda products.

Yeah man that Accord was great and I do miss driving it, but the TL is a great replacement; its definitely fun to drive, I wish I could have found a TL-S 6 spd tho I imagine you can feel the difference from the base

Yeah man I didn't love the feel of the TL's clutch until I removed the check valve. I was so used to the harshness of my AP1 and previous Accords.

Even the 04 accord was too conservative
