Got Tint today (Bay Area, CA)

Drove an hour to Livermore, CA to get my SS 04 tinted. Very satisfied with the work done by Mat of Rocky Mountain Tinting. He applied felt on the rubber tint which he has been applying on all the TLs he worked on plus other cars like Benz and some Chrysler models. I only had the back windows done. I did not want too dark a tint for night visibility reasons so he recommended the 35% Formula One. Due to my black interior, the tint looks more like 18% from the outside looking in. Since I do not have Navi, the metalic tint was ok for me. FM and AM receptions are fine. Of course XM is not affected since the antenna is on the roof. He charges $245 which includes the extra $50 bucks for the felt installation. So if you are in the bay area looking for an experienced TL tint installer (who knows about the need to install the felt), I highly recommend this place.

Techguy, I did my tint from the same shop and paid the same. Very professional work done. I'd searched for good bay area shop in many forums and Rocky Mountain came up many times from satisfied customers. Nice to know you are happy too.

Joranjani - I went to Mat because of your post. Thanks!!! He also trimmed off the 3rd break light and it looked really nice (and it kept the full brightness when lit).

Yup! We did exchange couple of PMs a month back. I'm getting old and skip my brains a lot.

I got mine done in San Leandro, California SunScreen, they did my BMW and Acura Integra before and I like the way they did the back window, they match the defrost lines with where they cut the tint, so you can't see the cuts in the tint. They also did the felt on the rubber and tinted all the windows for about $260. I took my wife's Honda to some other place and they did the back windows and I can see the cuts in the tint

What kind of tint does Rocky Mountain use? My cousin took it to Rocky Mountain a long time ago and the tint turn purple after several years.

They use Llumar. Ask your bro to get it to the shop, they give lifetime warranty.

Anyone that wants a good install and doesnt have time to bring it to the shop you can do this way. I went through "TINT's R US"

They are Mobile - they come to you and do your car up . I did mine at work and they have a truck come by and do your stuff right there. They use many kinds of tint but the one I chose is Made by 3m - "SCOTCHTINT" - Its lifetime warranty against any fade or dis-coloration. They are also aware of the moleskin for TL's since I brought it to their attention. They used MRToyz method since I was out there to show em also. One screw per door to get the seal out. NO charge for moleskin install. The rear quarter panels were did completely and unlike some of the tint jobs you see by members here where it was cut off at the rubber section.

Ask For "Juan"

Oh yeah - its 250 for the complete job. They also do Expel clear bras.

Did you have to provide the moleskin? Did you do the front windows, if so what %?

I just got mine done yesterday at Auto Sound in Sunnyvale.
Apparently a lot of athletes go there to customize their vehicles, but what car stereo store doesn't?

I got 50% all around: windshield, front and back windows, and rear window and 15% on the sunroof.
I've got a NBP on ebony and wanted to keept the sunroof on tilt when parked in the sun.

Got the whole job for $325.

I have the moleskin, but they guy said the car didn't need it. They have the lifetime warranty, so if they do scratch, I'll just take it in and make them install the moleskin then.

On a side note: there was this ABP TL non-navi getting $15k of stereo and tv equipment installed.
8 tv screens! One in each sun visor, one in each headrest, one in dash, one in each side view mirror, and I don't know where the last one went.

Yes, please, I like to know, too. My SIG has a pic, please let me know "blue" or "orange".

Thanks.

They put them on the blue.

I have no streaks whatsover. I roll my windows down regularly since I dont use AC often.

if you really think about it the window goes up in an angel the and comon sense that there is more pressure on the upper most seal. However if you feel safe then go ahead and do both. After all this moleskin stuff is cheap if you buy it- and also a member is giving it away!
