Talking Got my VIN!

I called Schaller Acura in CT today to get a status on my car. It was supposed to be built last week, and they never called me. I called and he gave me my pin. The last 5 are 65xxx...So I assume it's the latest and greatest.

He said we're on track for delivery on or before May 10

My VIN is 45xxx also and the car was shipped on 4/27.

65xxx does seem to be a bit high.

Have the dealer send you the actual VIN tracker from Acura.

Mine was built Friday and has 46xxx, so I wouldn't have expected them to jump out of sequence. It really doesn't matter what the VIN is unless you need to give it to your insurance, state registration, etc. before you actually take delivery.

Yeah I need mine for insurance... I'm going to call back and have him read it to me again. I'm going to say I think I wrote it down wrong..

True but I am ALWAYS skeptical of salemen. To be off 20,000 brings question.

Alright, so I tried checking the check number digit in the VIN with the 65xxx and the math wasn't working. It was equalling the check number. I sub'd the 6 for a 4 and the check number comes up correctly. My VIN isn't in carfax yet, which I'm sure is fine... but it'd be nice if it's there so I can see which is right and which is wrong.

hmm.. so the math shows it should be 45xxx which makes sense... but why did the dealer give me 65xxx twice? I feel as though if I were to call back and say it's wrong, he'd question the hell out of me...

I got my VIN yesterday for my TL which was built 4/28 and mine was 45xxx. There is no way they are up to 65xxx. Go call them back and just be nice about it and tell them that must have been an "honest" error.

Like I said, the math adds up with the 45xxx not the 65xxx - SO I will tell my insurance company the 45xxx #, and we'll go from there.

Either way I'm pretty excited about the car almost being mine

It showed up on AHM OwnerLink with the correct colors, tranny and Navi. Carfax is a good idea too but I didn't know you could get anything for free there. Try to go to ahm-ownerlink.com and register for OwnerLink and put your VIN in. This worked for me immediately after I got The Call, which was a couple hours after the build was completed.

Well Carfax isn't free, but when I put in the wrong VIN it said "Invalid VIN" .. when I put in the right VIN it said "2004 Acura TL - CLICK HERE TO GET REPORT" - and that's when you have to pay. I'll try the AHM OwnerLink...

I think I am going to tell my insurance company the 45xxx number
