Got my new bumper

I got my new bumper from Acura last week. My bumper is screwed up. Anyways I want to get it painted and installed but I had a few questions. During this time I would like to throw in a CAI and change my HID fogs to 8k.

I don't want to pay an arm and leg to get the bumper painted. What is a fair quote for painting the bumper? I have heard anywhere from $120-$200. Should I have them install the bumper....or is it best if I get it painted and install it myself. I feel like it would be much more then $200 if I have them install it.

And one of the best things IMO about the new bumper is NO PLATE HOLES. I am very excited about that. Should I just tell the bodyshop not to put holes in the bumper for the plate or what....I have a feeling I will tell them not to and they will be there when I go and get it .

For quality work id say 2-250

If I were you I'd take the license plate off and give them the car. They can't install a license plate if they don't have one

That's what I did!

I say $250-300 min for a top quality job, not sure if antharcite(sp) is a Pearl paint but shops tend to charge more for those colors since its a bit more labor involved. Installation is not very hard and there is a DIY in the 3G garage iirc.

does the bumper not have the pre-drilled holes for the license plate bracket attachment?

orange has polished metal metallic. not anthracite metallic.

OP-a quality paint job that is prepped correctly can be $250-300 maybe more.

i had my front bumper repaired (and it was a small repair) and resprayed= a little over $400. so take the repair out...you're looking at $300ish. however this is for my area.

get a few quotes from quality shops. last thing you want is to get it painted cheaply and find out later that the prep job was sub par and your paint is peeling off in a few months or years.

Don't be scared to remove and install your own bumper!!

You might end up saving yourself $$ if the shop wants to charge to install it (I don't think they would charge you money for removing/installing it, but I never had any parts painted so IDK)

I would remove my bumper, give it to them to get painted and install it myself. It's your car. When it's something as easy as removing the bumper that is something you should definitely familiarize yourself with!

There's things you should take to someone that has experience for help to do, than there's things that are so ridiculously simple that it doesn't make any sense to pay someone else to do it for you (removing/installing your own bumper, installing led interior lights lol)

So I went to the Acura dealer today and asked them what body shop they use. They told me they use the local BMW dealers collision center and some other shop. I went to the other shop first and the guy wanted $420 just to paint the bumper....not even intall it. I felt like that was a big rip off. I later checked the sheet and he had listed a bunch of bogus fees....$100 clear coat, $150 paint....wtf?

BMW dealer wants $265 to paint it. I feel like thats a fair price. I have used them before for my other car and the work is good. They guarantee the repair for the entire time I own the car.

The lady that was giving me the quote was outside looking at the bumper. Anyways I guess a few of the people that work at the dealer have TL's.....all were white or AM gray and she pointed out how so many Acura have the mismatch from factory. Did you guys know this? Out of the 3 WDP TL's parked at the parking lot, 2 had severe mismatching paint issues, front bumper+rear bumper+side looked different and the other ones rear bumper looked really off. The AM had the same problem with the rear bumper. If I was the owner and I just bought my car brand new, I would be very upset and angry.

Long Island shop that does quality work....but expect to pay a little more.

GEICO Insurance allows 300 dollars for painting a new bumper in NYC. Add another 90 dollars for removal of old bumper and install of new bumper.
