Ouch, sorry to hear and see that. I got rear ended a couple of months ago on the way to work. I was lucky the guy stopped. Can't even tell I got hit. Good luck with the repairs and glad you're okay. I hear about hit and run accidents all the time here in Jax.

Part of the reason I got the dash cam, it will only help if I get hit in the front end though

Also 1000 dollar deductible on my insurance !

I chose it this way for the lower premiums.

Haha.

I'll pay for this out of pocket.

Dash cam wouldn't help on this situation. They were behind me where they sideswiped.
Then turned off behind me. They never got on front.

Just out of curiosity, how does this work in the states? Does this affect your rate? We only have 1 insurance company up here in BC Canada and our deductibles are $400 but doesn't affect rate. However.. we pay over roughly $240 a month if your a new driver with discounts per year with no accidents etc

If you have collision / full coverage insurance instead of the state mandated liability only policy, and the other driver can't be found then the deductible of your policy applies.
MY insurance is very reasonable at 700 per 6 months for 2 drivers on 3 cars.

My wife and I are 31 years old with clean driving histories.in north carolina

$650 per 6 months with Geico with 2 drivers and 2 cars . OP sorry that happened to you but trust me it could've been a lot worst. I will try to take photos of my hit and run around the same area as yours.

Based on my previous experience, you're looking for about $500 job at most.

I had nearly the exact same damage a few years back, only on my passenger side instead. I was quoted $2700 for the repair-- the bulk of it coming from the dents on the rear quarter panel and color match/repaint. Although it was a little high, I didn't really care since I went through my insurance and paid the deductible, plus the collision shop had the highest ratings around.

Good luck, OP. Even with your 1k deductible, it might still be cheaper than paying out of your pocket. If it is deemed a hit-and-run, you won't be at fault and your rates shouldn't be affected.

I feel your pain! Happened to me back in October & same exact area! I even heard people outside the store yelling, I came out and they told me a woman was backing up & clipped my car then took off even with 3 people yelling at her to stop. $750 Deductible THANK YOU.

I got a quote to fix for 750 from a body shop paying cash.

I am meeting a painless dent guy to see what he could do...
