Goodbye TL....Hello RL

Just wanted to say I had fun having my TL this pass few years. Well just pass Monday I dropped off my 06 TL since Acura sent me a letter so I can turn in my TL early from my lease. So I picked up a graphite/black 2008 RL Tech.

Well here is my new baby.

Well....lets the mod bugs begins!

JDM Honda Legend Grille

JDM Honda Legend Headlamp

wow, congrats. Now you need a new screen name and avatar. What did you do with all the parts you put on your TL?

congrats with the RL, I might be seeing you there more often soon if things go right Are you planning to do anything else like the amuse or mugen kit along with the amuse/fujitsibo/etc exhaust , BBK all with the future free flowing cats?

Sorry to burst you bubble, but this may belong in cartalk as it doesn't deal with the 3G TL to much..

I can't for the life of me figure out why you would want the Honda "H" on the front of an RL...

LOL me neither. I thought Acura was supposed to be a more desirable brand than Honda?

Like one of the other posters said, its to make the car look more JDM rather than USDM. In Japan the RL actually comes with the honda emblem(and its called the Honda Legend) as with the TSX(i think its called the Honda Accord over there). Since Honda/Acura is a Japanese company, some folks choose to order parts str8 from Japan to make it more Japanese domestic rather that US domestic...basically taking the US "mask" off. Its a good look! If only the TL was available in Japan....maybe we'd see some aftermarket parts from Mugen! JDM FTW!!!

Congrats on the RL, its one helluva car!!!

i understand the honda/acura relation and the reason to put the honda grill on the front; i wouldnt do it to an RL though but hey, it still a sick ride that would make me look twice

Nice looking mods so far.. I wonder if changing the badges from Acura to Honda makes the car drive differently . Good luck with the mods I know you'll do something different.

No offense to anyone but that's the dumbest thing I've ever heard. I can understand doing this if it would improve the performance of teh vehicle in some way, but just for looks???

Do Hyundai owners order parts straight from korea to make their car more "korean domestic" with "genuine KDM" parts? ROFL LOFL

Don't be so sure of yourself, there are aot of things the RL has that the TL just does not. The TL was a great car, I had 3 of them, but the RL is just in a different class.

No offense but I would have no problem affording an RL but the TL is more for me. I may switch to the RL when I get into my mid/late 30s but the extra sportiness of the TL is nice.

I think the main reason why someone would makes these mods is to make "their" acura look more unique, different from all the other acuras out on the road.

No offense taken, I got my RL in my fairly early 30's, then switched the suspension and rims to Aspec and I absolutely love it. I enjoyed my TL's, they are great cars, it was just a personal change I wanted to make, without leaving the Acura family.

Didn't know you could use the A-spec suspension on them. I learn something new every day.

When I bought my 06 TL in Dec of 05, I looked at the RL as a family car and never gave it a second look. In the 2.5 years I've owned my TL, the RL looks better and better. Not willing to pull the trigger yet but in another couple years I'll probably give in.

I dont know man about sexier...The TL can be changed into a completely different car. Giving a RL too much JDM doesnt make it a RL no more. Its a sweet car, but its when you want to get your grown man on.

Actually, yes.

Some people that own tiburon's rebadge their cars to say "tuscani" cause thats what it's called in korea.

the JDM is there, but not too much... and you can feel the less power while driving, but SH-AWD makes it all better. The older RL's had good SH-AWD, but the SH-AWD in the new RL kicks ass, it can vector torque in first and second gear now.

congrats! I would like to have a RL too! And JDM ftw! I guess to answer why people rebadge their Acuras to Hondas is simple - it's just an exterior/appearance mod. It's like why people go with 19" heavy rims? They don't decrease performance/handling yet people still do that, why? Because those people think those rims look good.
