Goodbye TL - Hello RL

Well, after 4 months of driving my 04TL and two months of salivating over the new RL, I went yesterday and traded for the 05 RL. WOW what a car. Such an improvement in quality over the TL. I was really getting tired of all the rattles and vibrations in the TL. I'll post pictures when the sun comes out.....

Merry Christmas

Congratulation

I hope you won't have any rattle, but i won't be sure of that. Honda Acura had decresased a lot the quality of their car. ANd the first year models are almost like other manufacturers. Rattles are all of my last three Honda/acura cars but i must admit that my 05 TL is almost rattle free for the moment.

Give us some news on the TL forum about that in few thousands miles.

Merry christmas

Purchased 04 TL in Aug '04. 12,000 miles later, got $1,250 less than I paid for it against sticker price of new RL. Real money ..... cost me about $ 3,500 for 4 months and 12,000 miles. Not bad eh?

How much is the RL going to end up costing you with and without the trade in?

I'd agree, I like the dash of the TL much much better. There's just something about the RL dash that doesn't work for me.

Bill of Sale

Base Price 49,470
Trade 30,250
Difference 19,220

I figure that the '04 TL is really worth about $ 27,500 on trade, so that would calculate to about a 2,750 discount. Keep in mind, Acura just announce 2.9 % financing for up to 60 months..... SWEET!

As good of a car as the new RL is, to me, at keast, it is no worth 50k. I got my TL for 30k, for a car to be 20k more, it would have to do much more justification. There are much better cars out there in the 50k price range.

Like what? Serious question.

I've test driven both the RL and TL, and while I will be perfectly happy with the TL, I do like the more luxurious aspects of the RL(more refined, quieter ride. But like you, I'm not so sure the RL is worth 50K. However, I don't see anything else out there that I want to spend 50K on. I would appreciate some recommendations. Perhaps there is something I'm missing...

I saw my first one on the hwy yesterday. White. Looked awesome!! I'm really loving the styling direction Acura is going in...now if they'd only introduce that SHAWD into a coupe I'd consider sticking with them for my next vehicle.

I would not get rid of my '03 TL-S for anything, but if Acura came out with a coupe with 6-speed and SH-AWD, and a high-output V6 at like 300 (not even holding my breath for a Honda V8) with, then I would seriously consider it.

I sat in an RL on the showroom a couple of weeks ago. All I can say is WOW !!!
What an absolutely comfortable car. It is truly luxurious.
I had never considered trading my TL for one though.
Congrats though.
Maybe post some pics soon?

Not a good buy until ventilated seats come to the US.

What does it matter if it's on an Accord platform as long as it delivers the peformance it promises! Thats what really counts. When I'm driving my TL(04) it doesn't feel like an Accord nor do I think they look a like. Just have the same genes.

It'll be an even better buy if and when the Infrared Night Vision System on the Honda/Japanese version of the new RL comes here too.

The obvious competition to the RL is the Infiniti M45 and the new Lexus GS. Both will have V8's remember for about the same price as the RL's 6 Cyl. Granted, the Acura V6 is NICE but those V8's are MUCH nicer! I haven't seen pics of the soon to be GS but the M45 looks awesome.

As much as I like the RL I would buy the new M45 over it. Not much more in price and you can get a RWD 340 hp car.

I guess there is more competition in that field then I thought. The Infinity looks real nice, the GS looks exactly like the Maxima, and the RL has all the goodies.
