Good Words for the TL.

Hi folks. I'm a newbie, having bought my used, '07 TL in January. I've enjoyed this site but the nature of a site like this is to discuss problems so the more I read here the less I like my car. I have some issues, too, and I plan to take my car in for some things this week (loose driver's seat, loose door pocket, hands free link replacement.)

However, I got my car washed inside and out today and it reminded me how much I like the looks of the car.

My request is for positive comments about the TL. Have at it folks.

If you go over to the BMW, Lexus or Infiniti Forums, you'll find they all have problems too. Cars are complex electro-mechanical systems. Stuff goes wrong.

The TL is a wonderful car for most owners, and I agree with Consumer Reports in that it's the class of the field in combining luxury and sport sedan characteristics.

I post here usually with hopefully helpful thoughts, as I have had no ongoing issues with my TL since getting it new in '05 (had a couple of minor intermittent squeaks appear and then disappear). FWIW, over 230,000 3G TLs have been sold, and most of them have held up well (which is why the TL is at the top of the CR, Forbes and various other used car lists with a high residual/resale value).

The nature of car forums often has owners discussing problems or modifications; the owners already like the car generally, but are trying to address specific issues. The owners are the most critical of the car model since they also know the most about it. If you don't have a similar problem, don't dwell on it (but do post if you think you know the solution!).

Welcome to AZ!

I love My TL-S. I just passed 20,000 miles without any problems. I had to replace a couple of flats, but that is not the car's fault.

I think the vast majority of TL owners are the happy quiet type like me. You can get a distorted view of the car just reading the posting which usually focus on problems.

Enjoy your car... It is one of the best.

Dude, you are supposed to come to a site like this BEFORE you buy your car to research problems.

Here is something positive: When you come on this site and you see people having problems with their car...you will realize you are not alone, and you will have a greater understanding of what your problems are when things go wrong with your car.

Does that help?

There are plenty of great things about the TL. The amount of positives is DEFINATELY > the amount of negatives. As could be said about any industry / company or product:

1 negative could lead to 50 bad reviews, even though 100 positives gets none. I deal with this all the time at work. People always get caught up on the small negatives and never really stop to think about all the positives in comparison. Overall, the TL is not a bad car!

I did lots of on-line research prior to buying the car such as on Edmunds, Consumer Reports, Car & Driver, etc., but I did not find this site until afterwards. This site has helped me understand the car better, particularly with the strong downshifts which I did not notice when test driving the car.

Like others have noted on this thread, the number of complaints exceeds the positive comments because of the nature of the site. I really like this site but I just wanted to encourage some positive comments about the TL. Keep them coming.

you just have to realize that people come to forums most of the time because they are having an issue. They then post all of the problems and that is 70% of what you end up reading.

Dont sweat it man. The car is great. It has no more issues than any other model of vehicle.
