Question Is this a good deal?

Hey guys, in the market for a new TL for my wife. I have an 06 TSX 6spd which I adore, but she needs an auto and the a/t TSX just doesn't cut it.

We were offered an 06 TL a/t w/Navi at $32,000 (dest. included) +ttl. Lease deal was $2k down, 15k miles a year, 42months, $519/month.

Is that a good deal?

Thanks guys in advance!

$519? Holy shit. That's....

$519/month for 42 months = $21,798
plus
$2000 initial down = $23,798 for 3.5 years. You might as well look for an USED 2004 for $25,000 that has 25,000 miles or less!!

How much residual would it hold after the 42 months, meaning what would it cost to purchase it at the end of the term? We looked at financing, but we can only afford to put $2500 down, and even with 4.9% financing, it adds $100 more per month to purchase. We do want to own it and would probably buy it at the end of the term, even knowing we would get taxed again. Thoughts?

For that period of time, you're better off buying

That lease deal, without knowing specifics, sucks.

I would walk to work barefoot before I took that car with that deal.

One basic rule of leasing a car, NEVER put any money down - especially if you're just going to turn it over to them when your lease expires.

My advice is to go to www.leaseguide.com and read the pros and cons of leasing v. buying. Further, I would shop the same car and same lease terms with NUMEROUS dealers.

Alright guys, thanks to all your great input, we are going to purchase it instead of lease. What monthly payment should we shoot for if we are getting the car for $32k (dest included) with $2500 down? We have good credit.

Thanks again everyone
