Is this a good deal on '06 TL?

Hey I'm new here, I've been looking through these forums for a few months now and finally sold my 2006 Lincoln LS ultimate to buy an acura tl. I still drive a modified celica gts as a daily. I really wanted an 07 but I can settle for an 06 and just do a conversion down the road. Ive been looking for this exact color combination, black exterior with the saddle leather interior. Does this seem like a good deal? He said the 100,000 mile service has been completed along with a few sensors. I was able to talk him down to $9,500. The first thing I would do is change the transmission fluid along with all the pressure switches and then find an oem navigation system. The only annoying part is this is six hours away from me. What do you guys think. If you were looking for a tl would you buy this one?

Welcome to the site. TBH it sounds like you're planning on doing a conversion and other things that could simply be bypassed by buying an 07/08 model. Doing the conversion and navi install is going to cost you time and money - If I were in your shoes I'd honestly just hold out for an 07/08 with navi. It's not like TL's are extremely rare. I guess it might be difficult to find the EXACT color combination you're looking for with decent miles and at a decent price, but at the end of the day it's up to you how important that is (versus just getting an 07/08 with a different color combo). Good luck!

Hey thanks for the reply, I was planning on getting an 07 but I just don't have the extra 3-4 k to get one with lower miles. Its hard to find a decent car up here in the north east. Down in Florida where I lived its a different story cars sell for cheaper and are in way better condition so being in the north east a mint rust free undercarriage of the car makes all the difference. Im pretty good with cars so I don't mind doing a conversion, the nav install shouldn't be hard Im sure I can find the entire setup for under $500.

That may get you started with a DVD drive and current disc...it's going to be a lot more than you think.

Either hold out for what you want...or forgoe a factory nav and get a garmin.

To be honest just wait and the perfect car will appear. I waited and got a pretty good deal, and as for installing navi from what I've seen it can be a hassle.

This. I wasn't even in the market for a TL but decided to just do a search for the exact one (model, year, mileage, color, manual, navi, etc.) and it seemed almost impossible to find. I finally came across one a month later and here I am today with it. Just be patient and get something with the options you want. It may take a little but it'll give you time to save up for a newer year with the options you want.

I'd buy it if everything checks out, make sure to ask for receipts and inspect the car thoroughly before handing the gwop ($$$) over

Life is too short to wait, that TL was meant for you

the 07/08's do not come with the camel interior. 06 was the last year that came with that interior color. if you are really set on getting the camel interior then you have no choice but to get an 04-06.

however, if you are not dead set on the camel interior, my opinion is like most others- wait. consider expanding your search and consider an inspection company or reaching out to local AcuraZine members nearby the car you are interested to look at it for you and shipping.

regarding the car that you linked- it does look clean sans the normal wear on the driver's seat and armrest wear.

good luck and let us know what you end up with. last, welcome to AcuraZine.

I personally would wait.

It's not a 6MT, no navi and really close to 100k and your gonna pay almost 10k ? There are better deals.

Also, if you do end up getting that one, does he have any paperwork proving the timing belt was done?

+1 for waiting it out. As people have said, these cars are not rare. I waited and found a WDP/black 6MT with nav AND an a-spec lip kit... with 19k miles on it. That was about 85k miles ago.

Thanks for all the replies, the guy couldn't prove that the 100k mile service had been completed and there was one service record available so I saved myself a lot of time and money going down there. I did find a nice car locally that I am going to check out, I was really set on getting an acura tl but I found a very good deal for a 2004 mercedes s500 that has low miles and is awd which makes all the difference up here in Maine and the car has a lot of service records available. Im kind of hoping it doesn't work out so I can start looking for a tl again but the mercedes is just way to nice to pass up on.

Have you tried cargurus.com? I like it because it lets you sort by price/market value which helps you find some of the best deals for what you're looking for. I've used it a couple of times, that's how I found my 06 TL with only 11k miles.

No way you'll get a full navi setup for $<500. You need a custom harness, DVD drive, Sub-display, Screen, etc... I spent nearly $1500 for mine expect to spend the same with install or slightly less without.

I'd be willing to part with mine, but no way at $<500 or even close.
