Going to Claybar again with Z5 - Have questions

It's been 4 months since I claybar'd the car. Anyhoes, due to rain and stuff, I plan to claybar again but I have a few questions.

Is this the recommended method?

1. Wash with Zaino Car Soap
2. Claybar the car
3. Wash with Zaino Car Soap again
4. Dry
5. Z2 polish
6. Z6 Gloss Spray
7. Z5 Polish for swirl marks
8. Z2 polish
9. Z6 Gloss Spray

Any help is appreciated since I don't know when the Z5 fits in there.

First off, the Z2 is either/or the Z5. If your car is new, and you are clay barring, you probably can do well with just the Z2. Then, after it cures, you can use the Z6 for a finish glaze. Then you can repeat after like 8 hours in warm weather UNLESS you added the ZFX fast-cure to the Z2 mix. If you did, you only need to wait 1-2 hours for it to cure between coats.

The Z5 is for a rougher surface that has swirl marks or needs a more aggressive product. But, as I understand the Zaino products (and I am new to them), it is one or the other: Z2 or Z5 but not both.

Check www.zainobros.com for complete advice and instructions.

bustedbyu, I'll swap step 5 and 7 and would take out 8 unless you want one more coat. Otherwise that is the process I follow.

Is the swirl polish necessary for lighter colors? Zaino's site mentions it for darker, but doesn't necessarily say "not needed for lighter finishes". Is putting it on white overkill? Beneficial?

I'd wash with Dawn
Claybar
Rinse/Dry
NXT

Now you are good to go.

If you want, do a coat of #16 after 24 hours for more shine and protection.

Zaino - Too many steps, PITA for me.

My .02 cents! :lol2:

I personaly don't think it's worth of buying Z5 for light color car. Unless your car is for car show and people really look into your car that close

Honestly, the Zaino claybar is a ripoff (it's 16.95). Go to an arts and craft store and find some modeling clay (the non-drying variety). It's oil based and works EXACTLY the same, and it costs about $3 for 2-3 times the amount. I've been using modeling clay for almost 3 years and it has worked great for me.

The Meguiars is under $10 for the bar and lubricant solution.

"The Meguiar's Quik Clay Detailing System safely and quickly removes all these contaminants and restores crystal clear reflections and slickness. The Quik Clay system includes a specially formulated non-abrasive clay bar that safely lifts off the contaminants as the surface is lubricated with Quik Detailer. Instantly, paint is restored to a shiny, smooth as glass finish and is ready for wax protection to be added."
