GMSMFM Synchromesh finally wore out

I had always wondered how long the magic fluid would hold up, now I know. I originally replaced my trans fluid when I first bought my 07 Type-S 6MT with 115k miles and noticed the 3rd gear issues. As soon as I swapped out the fluid for the GMSMFM the problem went away. Well, last week I noticed the same 3rd gear issue happened a few times while I was out in Buffalo. I've got 148k miles on it now. The temperature was really cold but I've noticed it happen a few times since I've been home in warmer weather (30's instead of 20's). I plan on changing the fluid again as soon as I get the time. Hopefully the Synchromesh magic will work one more time. I'll post an update as soon as I've swapped the fluid.

What issue were you having in 3rd gear?? What made you go with GMSMFM instead of redline?

Probably the fact he has a manual transmission and not an auto

20-30 degrees is really cold. I've noticed manuals are definitely tougher to shift the at this temp especially overnight.

Redline is only for automatic trannys? Never knew this.

Really? I haven't done the fluid swap but mine actually shifts smooth when I head to work at 530am, sometimes smoother than when it's warmer

First change at 16K, second change at 70K. Currently at 119K. No issues at all through 6 wicked North Dakota winters....
